ConquerTell v4

Post by jonducrou »

I just finished up the first version of ConquerTell for Firefox 4.

With the removal of the status bar - I moved the notification to the Toolbar. I also knocked out a chrome version for kicks.

This is the FIRST version, quickly made for Firefox 4 users - please send any feedback my way via PM or email to conquertell@gmail.com

Firefox:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... quertell4/

Chrome:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... fflahjohib

Enjoy!

THANK YOU for the chrome version! This was the only extension tying me to Firefox, it's good to be free!

A few suggestions:

1. Could you please add a preference to the Chrome version so we can edit the refresh timer?
2. A way to filter to list would be great (i.e. Only show READY games.)
3. How about a turbo mode, that whenever you have a game available, clicking the logo opens a tab right to the first game, instead of displaying the list?

If the refresh timer could be updated, or if there was a way to have our active games becoming active make it light up, that'd be great. I was anticipating on using it for speed turns. That combined with #3 would be very, very nice.

edit: actually, now that I look at it, it only refreshes the list when I re-input my preferences (Using Chrome).

At least I have use of it again. That's good. I prefer it in the add-on bar, but the toolbar works, as well. Thanks for bringing it back to FF4!

Added the 'Show only ready' option to Chrome and Firefox. The timer is a fixed interval - it is faster than ever before (and at the moment I have no plans to make it adjustable). I added a note in the preferences about Firefox preferences taking a while to take effect.

I like the idea of turbo mode, adding it to the future feature list.

Also, these are all set up for internationalization - if there are any language requests (and translators) willing to contribute - PM me or email conquertell@gmail.com

Hmm, I had to kill FF a few times the last couple of days because my computer became slow, and now I'm testing if this addon was the cause. Kind of a long shot, but did anyone else notice FF taking up more memory and processing power after installing this?

I put the conquer tell icon on the end of the menu bar, and when i close FF and then reopen it the icon for conquer tell is hidden under my bookmarks toolbar!!

Have to go to VIEW --> TOOLBARS --> CUSTOMISE to get it back every time.

What am i doing wrong?

The grease monkey icon stays there but not the conquer tell one.

The new FF4

I have now moved them down to the bottom of the page using the "Add-on bar"

Much better place for them....back to where they were

Naah, I discarded that later. It seems like something in firefox 4 just starts to use a full processor sometimes, it still happens sometimes to me. It was just a few times in a row after I installed this. I'm still not sure what's the cause.

I like the new interface considdering my bottom bar is now gone. Which having just upgraded I am still adjusting to. I did notice though the total absence of a lot of the options that were in the last version, not just the absence of refresh time, but the notable absence of the SFX notifier option. I used to leave my browser open when my monitor was off or I was doing something else and then I would hear a sonar ping (or whatever effect) and I would know I had a turn I could take. I have not had a turn roll around yet, but I am presuming because the SFX option is not mentioned in preferences that it is not there. Is there any way to fix this in future versions?

I have added SFX to my feature backlog. I will try and get a new version out in a week or so.

No problems so far, but are you going to add an option for the audio notifications again.... I really like that.
