Here's for the honorable memory of all those who lost their lives in this tragedy. May their souls rest in Heaven. O:)
Here's to the ten years since and to a great ten years to come :)

I watched the whole thing on TV today, just like I did 10 years ago. It brought back the horrible sadness of that day. Nice remembrance, Dazey. =D> =D> =D>

I will ask Odin to let the victims into Valhalla where they will feast in the morning and do battle in the evening! And of course have 100 virgins by their side. (spicing it up with a little Islam as well. Hey don't mock me it's my religion!!) Kidding aside and prayers placed into the garbage can I'd say this is a very sad date. For the Americans but mostly for the Iraqis who didn't have anything to do with it but who after this event was about to feel the wrath of America! You think having a couple of buildings razed is bad how about being invaded? What if the entire world decided that America must be "saved" and therefore storms in with thousands of tanks kill millions of Americans and take control over your country? Well that was pretty much what happened to Iraq after this date so rest assure that you don't regret this event more than they do! Also this should probably be moved to off topic unless anyone can explain what 9/11 has got to do with general CC discussions!?

No offense, but the date in the signature is wrong. It was 11-9-01.

You know, I hate the people who argue constantly over whether or not it was a conspiracy/cover up/genuine terror attack. The fact of the matter is, there were 3,000 people killed that day, and severe suffering brought upon thousands more. Husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, fathers, mothers, grandparents, partners, lovers, friends, and many more. How do you tell your 4 year old child that their Dad won't be coming home from work today, because he threw himself out of a window of a burning building so as to avoid a slow painful death? That was one of the worst parts. Watching people throw themselves out of windows to their death.

I can't claim to know what it feels like to be a victim, but all these people who spout their bullshit and argue over the trivial details do not know what it like, so they should shut the hell up and show some damned respect for the dead people.

ya 3000 out of a population of around 300 million. 3000 compared to the 100,000+ people dead in Iraq.

3000 is not that bad compared to how many innocent people america has killed

The date system in the U.S. differs from the UK.. We place the month before the day.. Either way they are both correct.. Tomato tomatoes.. :D

And as for the lives lost, the suffering and pain that individuals endured.. Prayers go out to you and hopes for a better tomorrow.

Who are you to say that its not General enough for anyone on CC. There may be individuals who were affected by these events who use this site. So should it get relegated to an "OFF" topic just to please you.. Seriously... Are you that insensitive and bothered so much that you want to move the thread.

Thanks Dazerazer for remembering ALL those who were affected by these events.

God Bless all of those who were affected and acted quickly to save the lives of some who were fortunate to survive. I remember at the age of 7 being the one to tell the family a plane hit a tower in US. And my parents thought I was joking...

Well I rarely try and argue anything on here but if you think it was just the lives lost day then you maybe you need to take step back and look how that day didnt just affect the people that died. Not saying that the Iraq number is any less significant but do not think its a like for like type of situation. Having said that I do understand that is your opinions and feelings on the matter so to each their own. Very terrorism act is sad and tragic but 9/11 did change so many things not just in our Nation but the World.

this was a shocking event and must have been a traumatic experience for those that lost someone and nothing will change that.....I know what its like to lose family in such a horrible way....

but the amount of death & suffering repaid upon the world on the back of what happened that day should also never be forgotten...US was giving carte blanche that day to win the "war on terror" by any means that suited them and Im sure there are family's in the Middle east who are still losing sons & daughters, husbands & wife's, even as I write this post and they will never forget that day either.....while we get reminded once a year about it they get reminded everyday about it.....

I also love the media fearmongering every year that surrounds this tragedy....I can only imagine what its like in the US but even here in Ireland we are not immune to it....all week RTE news have been reporting about terrorist attacks been planned for the 10 year anniversary and heightened security.....talking to the usual idiots on the streets who are happy to give up all there rights as long as there kept safe from the "terrorists"...............

anyway my sympathies for those that lost anybody that day and those that are still losing loved ones because of that day....

Sorry to burst the bubble on a couple of posts already, but the direct effect of the attacks was an attack on Afghanistan, not Iraq. While there were connections between 9/11 and the start of the conflict in Iraq, we attacked Afghanistan with 9/11 as our number 1 motive. And its a known fact that innocent civilians are a part of any and every war. But I dont consider flying a plane into a skyscraper with no reasoning behind it an act of war, more of an act of blind hatred of a country.

But I dont want to take away from the topic at hand, as it should be dedicated to those who suffered from 9/11, whether directly from the attacks or indirectly from its aftermath.

Not to mention that the US is now up to its knees in debt; funding a "war on terror" and maintaining the title of the world's biggest spender militarily doesn't come cheap. It's a shame this act of terror has had so many repercussions for so many people, worldwide.

i was not trying to link them just saying that while only 3000 died that day many more die in different part of the world unnecessarily and no one make a big deal of it.

now i dont mean any disrespect to though who lost someone but it been 10 years we (as a country/countries) dont need to make a big deal out of it anymore it happened in the past and i think it should be left there of course we dont want to forget but if every year we brought up even mass killing in history then every day we would be remembering something
