Allow Custom Round Limit

Post by sensfan »

Concise description:
Right now it looks like we are going to have a none, 20, 30, 50 and 100 round limits. One thing that would be fun for Conquer Club is to let the game creator choose the round limit himself. I know it could become abused, so then we can have a minimum of 5/10 rounds.

Specifics/Details:
Beside None, 20, 50 and 100 have a box where people can type in with the words Custom: beside it. Once entered with will create the custom round match. For example if someone wanted a 10 round game, he could type in 10 in the box, create the game and then the standard rules apply from thereon.

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
We could have tournaments where the games only last 10 rounds, etc.

I am in favor of this. I think that a drop down would be effective. I don't know about a 5 round limit though. That's not very long at all.

I guess it could lead to round limit specialists. Just like freestyle specialists and maps specialists...

Either way, I'd love to have this.

No.

I don't think the option of around 10 rounds will probably cause more trouble then it does good.

I think there should be a little thing that you can click, it pops up a scroll-er, and you click the the number of rounds you want to play. The only problem with this is like what if you accidently join a 3 round game. There would have to be some kind of warning that says that it is under 20 rounds or something. I think that an option for less rounds would be good though. Most of my games don't last more than 20 rounds. I think this is true for other people too. An option for like 5 rounds would be good for AOR, New World, Etc. Maybe it would be good for short manual deployment games.

The more I think about this, the more that I think it's kind of dumb. Maybe 10 or 15 as an additional limit, but what is the point of something shorter than that? It's not like it takes that long to play 11 rounds.

Adjustable Round Limits

Post by ViperOverLord »

Adjustable Round Limits

There are certain maps in which I may find 25 rounds to be the ideal for 1 v 1. There are certain maps in which I may find 40 or 60 rounds to be the ideal limit for multiplayer. Of course, we don't want too many bubbles for round limit options. But why not just have a space to input the desired round limit? The options could be 15-200. And only allow increments of 5, I would likely recommend.

This was discussed when Round Limits were introduced... Actually, it was changed at the very beginning to offer different options that the originals. So, since this was already discussed, I doubt it gets changed now, but I wouldn't mind it.
