A much more thought provoking question would be "Most Influential Bands Ever." Best Bands Ever is just gonna end up as a what's your favorite band thread...we have like 580 of those.

Muddy Waters (pioneered modern blues-rock hybrid), Rush (pioneered Prog Rock), Led Zeppelin (heavy rock/metal pioneers), The Clash (pioneered punk, which eventually led to most of todays music), The Cure (pioneered "Indy" sounding music, without actually being Indy)
Five of my favorite?
1. Coheed and Cambria
2. Beatles
3. VNV Nation
4. Nine Inch Nails
5. Allman Brothers
Have to agree - they're not bad but they're not that good either...
Really? I find them to be really good. Only erally mainstream band I listen to.
Yeh but EVER?
They'll do another album or two then you won't hear them again.

Another few influential bands were the Beatles, who pretty much brought rock/pop to the U.S. Chuck Berry was a pioneer of early rock and roll and so was Elvis Presley.

Presley was a hack. Every thing he did came from black musicians before him.

But white people weren't aware of the "black person music" around them.
