I tried to send a PM to someone and it says sent successfully but then just sits in my outbox and doesn't appear in the Sent Items box as it obviously should. Does this mean it's not been sent or does the PM system only say it's been sent once the recipient reads it?

Once they read it, it moves to sent messages.
know that this is true for one reciepent. if you sent the same message with multiple reciepients then it sits there untill it is read. however i am not sure if that must be all or just some. just know that with multiple reciepients there is something else going on

I think that once it is read by one recipient it is moved to sent.

You are correct.

BGtheBrainand jefjef, the reason that i dont know for sure is that i have an msg in the outbox that at least 3 reciepients have replied to and a fair few others not.. following your logic it should have gone away from the outbox, after all you cannot send a reply without reading the msg... it might be that this was a msg change since the message is quite old, but still.. its there all right... so thats why i know something is not right

I send out pm's to multiple people all the time. Once 1 person opens it - it immediately goes from OUT into the SENT folder.

pm's 2 1 person stays in outbox until read..(the problem i think the op has is that the player in ? might of had several pms missed his then it does not show on are main screen as inbox (1).. so maybe resend it..
group pms... show when one player reads it takes it away from your outbox...
but if you use the bbe code i am sure it only removes from outbox as each individual person reads it...

Is that so? I'm not concvinced. Let's make a new test.
I will send chapcrap 2 PM's and then he should open 1 and not open the 2nd (but he opens the Inbox). Let's see where the PM's end up in my Send/Out Box.

I am pretty confident that it says in the 'outbox' until the individual PM has been opened, regardless of whether you have visited your inbox (or any folders you may have set up for delivery).
I'm pretty sure Night Strike is right on with this one: It goes from outbox to sent once the recipient opens their inbox, regardless of whether they actually do anything with the PM itself.
No; It has not been read yet by the person that you sent it to. When the message is read by that person, it then disappears from the "Out" box and appears in the "Sent" box.
