[GP] Extra Points For Spoils

Points for sets of Spoils

Concise description:
  • With my luck every point counts!

    I don't know if this has been suggested, but I found nothing so here goes.

    I was thinking if you have or get a complete set of spoils when you win a game, that you get extra points for the highest paid set you hold.

Specifics/Details:
  • The winner gets the points for whatever set they have (4 for red, 6 for green, 8 for blue, 10 for mixed).
    Escalating games should top at 10.

    The winner is givens points for the highest set they have so only 1 set would get their bonus points.
    So the max extra points you could get would be 10.
    The loser would get nothing of course being their spoils would be taken.

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • Sometimes, yes even me, we play lower ranks that wander into our games and we get very little points from it if we win. Just a little extra so it will make it worth the higher ranks time... and patience....

Jim, looking at your games, you play 1v1 almost exclusively. If you want more points, play 6+ player games.

Dislike this suggestion. If I play'd a game with this rule, I'd wait a couple turns until I could get a set and thus gain more points

Exactly. The point system, for all its perceived flaws, is definitely point neutral. 1000 points come into the system every time a new player joins, and inactive players inactivate their points.

Regardless of how you feel about that, your proposal biases the system in favor of 1v1 players. A good 1v1 player should have a greater than 50% chance of winning. Considering that when you win, you gain the spoils of the next player, then 1v1 players have a higher chance of holding more cards at the end of the game (considering that losers hold 0 cards). More cards at the end of the game, under your system would lead to more points.

Judging by the comments here, many people share this sentiment or have their own reasons for disliking this suggestion. Moving to REJECTED.
