Occupy Movement Files Lawsuit Against Every Federal Regulator of Wall Street
If there is a common thread connecting these movements and the dire media prognostications of their demise, it is likely that when either one advances, entrenched power — and its iron grip on the wealth of a nation — loses.
The lawsuit informs the court that Dodd-Frank required that regulators adopt rules relating to this section “within nine months after the completion of a study by FSOC [Financial Stabilization Oversight Council] relating to the Volcker Rule. The FSOC completed that study in January 2011.” The complaint proceeds to explain that the legislative language “is unequivocal in setting this mandatory deadline, which the Defendants and the agencies under their control have missed.”

To bring a lawsuit of this nature, plaintiffs who have a legitimate stake in the outcome must be named on the suit. Occupy the SEC has wisely selected two individuals, Eric Taylor and Kristine Ekman, who live in Brooklyn and hold insured deposit accounts with two major Wall Street firms. That’s highly relevant because the Brooklyn residences allow this case to be filed in the Federal District Court for the Eastern District of New York rather than the Southern District that covers the Wall Street area and lower Manhattan. Wall Street has been getting extremely sweet deals in that District Court for the past two decades, raising concerns as to whether the 99 percent can ever obtain justice there.

I supported the movement, and it was really strong in NY, but here in Vanciouver it was the biggest joke ever. Just a bunch of hippies camping out in the most ghetto area, overdosing on random street drugs. Either way, i hope these guys are successfull

The organization is suing every Federal regulator that resides in the pocket of Wall Street – which means they are suing every Federal regulator of Wall Street. And, spunky group that they are, they’re naming individuals too. Here’s the rundown: Martin Gruenberg, Chairman of the FDIC, Elisse Walter, Chair of the SEC, Gary Gensler, Chair of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, Thomas Curry, Comptroller of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, Mary Miller, Under Secretary for Domestic Finance at the Treasury, Neal Wolin, Acting Secretary of the Treasury.
So, Occupy Wall Street is suing 6 Obama appointees / long-time supporters, who will be defended by Obama's Attorney-General, Eric Holder.

I guess it's true what they say, pigs eat their own. This is gonna be fun to watch, hopefully it gets a lot of press. After Obama BradleyMannings these guys it will convert a new contingent to the PS&L and Green Party. People don't go through a federal court case and come out the other side buddies with their opponent. Like, never.

Precisely why the establishment wants to make it illegal for everyday citizens to videotape police officers.

Yeah, I think that about sums it up. Good ideas, but the wrong way to go about any kind of real change. Even so,... I hope it works.

This lawsuit is a great way to do it (not sure if that's what you're talking about). I just hope the named plaintiffs don't settle.

If the judges don't throw it out, I'd expect them to settle since there's no admittance of wrongdoing. Of course, both parties have to agree to that, and I don't expect the Occupy lawyers to agree to anything but a trial, truth syrup, and tribunals.

Hey BBS, what's your professional background? Just out of curiosity.

Hey BBS, what's your professional background? Just out of curiosity.
One day, while riding my bike, I got into a serious accident. Long story short, most of my body was beyond repair, so like Robocop they implanted my brain, spine, and eyeballs into this machine with which I uphold the law. I sometimes get flash backs of being Judge Dredd, so lately I've been thinking that I may actually be some cyber entity with my brain in some lab, into which Daniel Dennett keeps uploading movie scenes.

These days I promote self-governance in our little civil society of ConquerClub, read/type a lot here and elsewhere, and occasionally thud-thud-thud my way into the cruiser to kill drug dealers and crony capitalists.
