Home Run Derby 2015

Post by nietzsche »

Did anyone see it?

The most exciting home run derby ever. Nice new format.

Now people is going to actually watch it. The only reason I watched it is because in the halftime of the gold cup game I switched to espn to see what was on, and there it was, and they were talking about the new format. I gave it a chance and it was finally entertaining.

The only fun I remember having in a home run derby was when Hamilton's HR derby.

I was flipping between the derby and the US gold cup game.

I saw Fraizer's semi final round (where he hit two HRs with like 5 seconds left) and it was more exciting than the regular one. I hope they stick with it for a few more years

I just stuck with the Gold Cup. The Derby means nothing to me. The only reason I ever watch is because it's typically the only "game" on, but since it had competition in the way of an actual game, I didn't bother.

Bollocks.

Was also nice to see they got a few of the older, well-known guys to participate in Pujols and Fielder against the younger players. Although the new format makes it more likely that the younger guys will start taking over, as you could see a lot of fatigue towards the end.

They need to change that bonus system though so not everyone gets the extra :30. Maybe do something for guys that hit them over 450 or so...

I was going to watch it but I am pissed that they moved the goal posts closer together so I boycotted it.

exactly what i was telling a friend.

it was supposed to be 1 extra min for one 475ft homer, but since it was going to rain the adapted the rules for this one and gave 30 secs for two 425ft homers.

but 475 seems to much, 450ft seems better.
