Satellite for 19th RiskTOC [CHAMPION: spidey]

Tournament News. Congratulations to spidey for winning the RiskTOC Satellite Tournament. It was a hard fought battle by all, but only spidey emerged victorious...great job!!!

On behalf of the RiskTOC staff, I'd like to thank all 64 players who participated in the tournament. I hope all of you had as much fun playing as I did hosting.

I hope to see you all in October.

Hi folks,

We have received quite a bit of demand for this tourney so here it is.

1. This tournament will consist of 64 entrants

2. First prize will be one seat in the live 2007 International Risk Tournament of Champions to be held October 5-7, 2007, in Jim Thorpe, PA. ($50.00 dollar value.)

First prize is NOT refundable or redeemable for cash value.

3. There will be a total of 3 rounds:

Round 1: 16 games of 4 players each
Semi-Finals: 4 games of 4 players each
Final Table: 1 game of players

The tournament will be single elimination, throughout.

Only the winner from each game will advance to the next round

4. The format for all games will be as follows:

Map: Classic
Game Type: Standard
Play Order: Sequential
Bonus Cards: Escalating
Fortifications: Chained

This format is closest to actual RiskTOC format.

5. RiskTOC staff members are NOT eligible to enter this tournament.

6. Entrants pool and standings will be updated on this post as tournament progresses.

7. Once I have 64 entrants, I will notify you by PM of your game numbers and passwords throughout the tourney. I will also post the entrants as they sign up on this post.

8. Winners from each game will notify me via PM or this thread to inform me of their victory and I will update the standings accordingly.

9. The winner of this tourney will be contacted by me via PM to get pertinent registration information for entry into the Risk Tournament of Champions at the conclusion of this tournament.

10. Have fun!!!

Honestly, this is the first tournament I have organized on line, so if i left anything out, or if you have any questions, please feel free to let me know. The tourney will start as soon as we have 64 entrants and I have set up all of the games. Good luck to all.

One question tho: will the first round matchups be random, or will they be somewhat seeded to prevent a situation where one game has three captains and a lieutenant and another game has two privates and two cooks?

I am staging the first round matchups by the order in which I receive the entries.

Or, I could do it alphabetically as well. I don't want to take anyone's rank into account, high or low. Everyone starts off on equal footing.

I think that the match ups should be random. But I wouldn't mind playing incandenza and reptile first to get them out of the way. :lol: :lol:
