Does Playing CC help you in real life?

There is a lot of strategy when playing Risk/CC. Do any of you feel that this game helps you make strategic decisions for everyday life? I do but I wanted to see if anyone agreed with me

Yes… with a big *.

I think it helps in the sense that it’s general brain exercise… that you might get from any strategy game.

I don’t think the specific strategies used are of value in the real world.

also think that it’s possible to get fooled into thinking one is a better decision-maker / risk accessor the\an one really is.
Since there’s a large element of this game that’s pure luck, one might be able to convince themselves some risks IRL are worthwhile… but the problem is that the dice-of-life are different and (depending on the decision) the problems associate with taking a risk and losing have Real consequences… whereas on here people can convince themselves it was the “suiciding red player” and not accept responsibility for their loses.

diplomacy is the only transferable life skill from this game.

jim's point is good too though. but I think accepting your own responsibility is a lesson learned from life that gets transferred to CC and not vice versa.

Thanks for your thoughts guys. I think there are some people who never think strategically about very much (finances, long term goals, retirement, etc.) And for them it might be beneficial to strategize a little more. For those of us who already strategize I suppose this game may not be as helpful as it is fun. It is a great game though! 0

yes, i feel that it really does. for example, look for an opening to reach your goals. don't always pour everything into that one approach, but sometimes it makes sense to do so.

Participation was a lame stab at humor.

No it doesn't "help". It simply demonstrates a pre-existing drive for this type of behavior, IMHO.

I like white cars. Buying and owning a white car doesn't increase my said preference, it is a result of said preference.

Anyway, I'm out. Gotta go categorize my ammo in preparation of my retirement....

knowing some of the maps by heart has helped me at the pub trivia night a few times.

Liechtenstein was the answer to a question, and frankly, i wouldn't know anything about it if it wasn't for the europe map here

So, for the $20 i've won, vs the $100s i've spent on membership here over the years, i'm at a net loss, plus beer and good times
