PLease... Libertarian Convention is almost an oxymoron.
Those who join the LIbertarian Party (or just attend its convention) are usually manipulative 'plants' sent in from other parties, especially the Dems.

Someone who truly holds libertarian values would rarely join and only occasionally vote for the Libertarian Party at most,

I've been to quite a few Libertarian conventions and met quite a few of the attendees. If any of them were "plants" from anywhere, they were planted pretty deep. Most Libertarians take their philosophy very, very seriously.

As someone who was a Libertarian for almost two decades and a serious Libertarian activist for about seven years out of those decades, I can tell you that while there's a lot of things wrong with Libertarianism, lack of sincerity has never been one of the problems.

The Trump booing incident certainly happened. I know this not only from the media but from a Libertarian writer I still stay in touch with.

Unfortunately, the full reason is not completely admirable. They weren't booing Trump because he's a con-man and a thief, they were booing Trump because they've all become anti-vaxxers, and he still takes credit for Operation Warp Speed and developing the covid vaccines. That, and his record-breaking deficits.

Whichever individuals (or faction) of (quasi?-)Libertarian Thought has managed to seize (partial?) control of the political party of the same name only.

Actually, the Trump supporters were bussed in. They all ran to the front seatings where the seatings were reserved for Libertarian delegates. The Libertarians eventually told the Trump supporters to move back where the seats are not reserved.
