The pool is done. Just in time as it’s over 100 degrees. The well water is Arctic cold, blue sky, nice waterfall. Next to two of my favorite trees. Absolutely refreshing.

We turned on our pool about six weeks ago.

The first week, it cost $400 to heat the thing.

After that we turned the heat off for a couple weeks until the weather warmed up.

Since then, three weeks of (mostly) warm weather has had us swimming (most of the time) except for the (plentiful) thunderstorms.

Yup, spring in Niagara. (Well, anywhere in the Great Lakes region, really.) One day it's 10 degrees and we're considering bringing out the winter clothes again, next day it's 34 and everybody's laying on their front porch panting like a dog.

Wife used to keep ours at 86. I finally convinced her that 86 is irresponsible and got it down to 82.

On the plus side, we haven't had to put any water in this year. Rain has exceeded evaporation.

I totally removed the pool cover and the temp went down to 90'. We won't have rain until the monsoon season starts around July/August. Our water use obviously increases during the long summer. Had a water leak on a auto-water system in the barn, while we were in Florida for 5 weeks...this water bill will be frightening!
