Prize Tournaments [to-do]

Post by FlyinHi »

Suggestion Idea:

Have the Mods run prize specific tournaments

Specifics:

I understand money makes the world go round, and you get nothing for free. But what I'm suggesting, and don't know how possible it would be, is having tournaments for either CC shop items, video game consoles, computers, board games, basically anything you can think of utilizing PayPal or some form of online payment to pay and enter the tournaments. The entrance fee wouldn't have to be much considering the amount of people currently using the site, a few dollars at most. And the total number of participants could reflect on the prize.

Why it is needed:

It is always fun to win physical prizes instead of just gloating rights. And not only would it allow the participants to win items, it could also supplement the cost of running the website. If a prize is worth $100, and everyone pays $3, you would only need 34 participants to break even.

Priority (1-5): 3

I think this is a good idea, you should pm it to lackattack too so he can think about this earlier.

Don't listen to Honibaz, I already get more PMs than I can handle!

This is something that I have on my to-do list. It will be a while before the infrastructure for the Conquer Cup is ready.

I like this idea.

Maybe it could be something like this:
6 player games. The winner of each game would go to the final battle. The winner of that game would get the prize.

I think a $5 to $10 entry fee would be ok. Maybe higher?

The possibilties are endless. There can be small entrance fees, a few dollars. And large ones, maybe $25 - $50, but the prizes would be much more expensive, like video game consoles and stuff like that.

Why do you want the entrance fee?
Either way with the prizes is fine, but an entrance fee is one thing that will end my fun.

The entrance fee would be to help pay for the prize. Rather than CC paying for it, if that were the case i'm sure this suggestion would be worthless. It's like a poker tournament, you pay a small fee to get in and then if you win, you get a much larger prizes. ...or raffle tickets for that matter.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the entrance fee idea, but I am interested to see how everything goes for an official tournament system for the site. That is speaking strictly as a tournament organizer.

There are some tournaments on occasion that do reward prizes for winning. I know of several tournament organizers who have offered 6 months or a year of premium for winning.

I am working on a new tournament idea that will allow both premium and non-premium alike to compete for items from the Conquer Club Store, but it will be a little while longer before I have it polished enough to announce.

i guess you could make the tourney free to enter - but only open it to premium players. This would provide an incentive for people to buy premium, which is or course, lacks overall aim here.

if it happens..no more tourneys for me..I'm sure alot of people would hate the idea of paying a fee to play when they already pay premium

There would still be free tounaments. This is just an option to have prize tounaments.

It's seems like a few people here are having trouble understanding this idea.

I think if there were tournaments with an entrance fee it would be only some of the officially CC sanctioned ones that the actual Tournament Directors run for that very purpose. I know that AK_iceman has told me there is a plan for "official" tournaments sometime in the future.

I find it hard to believe that they would require and entrance fee into ALL of the tournaments on the site. That would be not only ridiculous, but really hard to keep track of in my opinion.

I think if it were a big official tournament I might be tempted to join in once just for the experience, but only if the fee was something to the tune of $5 or less and there was a prize worth fighting for. I don't think I'd be that motivated to pay a fee to join a tournament for something like 6 months of free premium.

I would however be willing to join in for things like:

1. Any one item from the Conquer Club Store.
2. A Conquer Club Collection (t-shirt, mug, etc)
3. Some kind of cool title underneath my name for winning that would be there permanently.

The list goes on I'm sure, but those are just my thoughts.
