Conquer Club IS NOT RISK!!!

Post by Coleman »

Priority: 2,077,381

A few foundry posts made me think this was necessary, as new people throw around the word risk a lot to describe things. It's too bad the banner contest is over.

EDIT: This was a suggestion for changing the top of the site. I do not appreciate being moved to General without any explanation.

Haha huzzah Coleman. Aye I agree with you. People need to learn to differentiate between the two. The argument and bickering in the foundry over new maps/ideas/innovations has gotten stale.

They are not the same.

Btdub nice banner.

It's not risk in the fact risk can't be played with Fog of war.

Other things too, of course. But FOG is the best exemple.

From Colemans post I thought there was a fundamental difference, so its just down to marketing?

Sorry for the move Coleman, it looks more like a GD thing than a suggestion thing - or at least it will get more eyes in here than in suggestions and I think it deserves them :)

Oh, and as a banner for the top of the site (which you should have stated if it was a suggestion) Rejected :)
Great idea, sadly no can do :-p

Have a good one

In all seriousness, it's from the 2 sides.

Lack couldn't have made this RISK and call it that way, due to copyrights from Habsro. It is not risk in any ways, otherwise this site would not be alive still as we speak.

It's also not risk in the fact that many options here couldn't, never been and will never be played on the Risk board.

Freestyle, Fog Of War, speed games, random card colors.

Those things will never appear in Risk, and it's what makes this site Unique. And it's better this way.

The rules are different than risk. And people shouldn't pop into anywhere and say, "well risk is like this..." because this is not risk, and we don't care what risk is like.

Yes I'm sure of it now Act 2 scene 2
JULIET

'Tis but thy name that is my enemy;
Thou art thyself, though not a Montague.
What's Montague? it is nor hand, nor foot,
Nor arm, nor face, nor any other part
Belonging to a man. O, be some other name!
What's in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;
So Romeo would, were he not Romeo call'd,
Retain that dear perfection which he owes
Without that title. Romeo, doff thy name,
And for that name which is no part of thee
Take all myself.

Whats funny is I'm doing a paper on Romeo and Juliet as we speak.

However, when quoting, you should use proper techniques.
"A rose by any other name would smell as sweet" (William Shakespeare Act II scene ii).

;)

To me CC always seemed like Risk but redesigned for online play with modifications to accommodate more variations of play, not to mention differences in player time zone/schedules.

Eh, they'd smell the same. It would just apparently be a parallel universe where human sense of smell was altered.

Edit: Well, I just realized... if I'm bringing parallel universes into this... the rose could just smell different. But then I suppose it wouldn't really be a rose... Perhaps I was better off not mentioning a parallel universe.

Ask and ye shall receive. It wasn't obvious it was a suggestion since the form wasn't used. In fact, it came across as a joke so was treated as one. We have enough suggestions to wade through w/o having to muddle through jokes and such. Thanks for understanding.

actually, calling a rose by a different name would make it smell differently... there is a lot of money put into psychological research in product marketing, and one of the things they have discovered is changing the name or the colour of the package of the food product will result in differing experiences of taste. For example when they used more yellow in the colouring of a can of sprite, the majority of the testers said that it tasted more like lemons than normal sprite despite the fact that it was the same product...man that was a wordy lecture...
