A new map by DiM. looking for a name. V3-page 6. xml done

Post by DiM »

after making maps where strategy not luck is the key to wining, i decided to make one where there's absolutely no strategy. none at all ZERO strategy. ONLY LUCK.
so go find a horseshoe take out your rabbit foot and give a beating to the local leprechaun and steal his 4 leaf clover because WHEEL OF FORTUNE is in town.

the idea is simple. if you feel lucky and want to gain some fast points. play this map. you get 100 troops right from the start and anything can attack anything else. so basically the one that goes first can auto attack the whole map and win.

i don't know if wheel of fortune is copyrighted. if that's the case then i'd like suggestions for a better name.

V3

DONE:
* modified some more graphics.
* reduced size to 700*600px

TO-DO:
* graphics
* convince people it's a nice map

NOTES:
* i still don't know if wheel of fortune is copyrighted. so i'm not sure if that's the final name.

V2

DONE:
* modified some graphics.
* cut 100px off the height
* xml

TO-DO:
* graphics
* convince people it's a nice map

NOTES:
* i still don't know if wheel of fortune is copyrighted. so i'm not sure if that's the final name.

hahahahha ... just hoping this wasn't one of the 4 on your poll the other day.

But hey, wouldn't be surprised if you got some interest.

actually it was. and since it was the easiest one to do i decided to give it a go while i wait for AoR to get quenched.

to be honest i really think there's a market out there for such a map.

i mean i know people that play the lottery every time so why not here? you have a 50 % chance of winning a 1v1 game which is a lot more chance than in a real lottery :P

Few suggestions

a) Leave this here - walk away...
b) DELETE DELETE DELETE!!!

-----

Anyways...

A better wheel of fortune could be based on the TV series...

Lots of territores (say about 60) and each square has a territory bonus on it (i.e. bankrupt (-100) and loads a money = +40)... etc...

Still be bloody random... but wouldn't be as lucky as this!!?!

nope. each person starts with a teritory in a 6p game. and each terit gives 100 troops bonus.

it goes like this. i start a 6p game on this map.
the person that starts the game (random every time) gets 1 terit and 100 troops bonus. he deploys in his terit and kills everybody. easy as pie. game over in round 1.

2 sections can be easily added if lack adds 8 players in the near future. if he doesn't then he can simply block this map from 8p games or i can revamp it.

no really. imagine an unlucky bastard starts with a -100 terit. what will he do? he can't deploy anything and with the few troops he gets from the start he's bound to be eliminated fast :D

i like the concept but it needs a lot of work - will post more in a while.

ps was this 4 in that poll ?
Don't now why people on here don't like being cooks, remember under siege: A former SEAL, now cook, is the only person who can stop a gang of terrorists when they sieze control of a US Navy battleship.

yeah terit bonus. so if i start with the bankruptcy terit i get -100. right? :roll:

Almost everyone is addicted to CC because they want to pit their strategic wits against others. This map doesn't allow that to happen AT ALL.

Even Doodle Earth requires a fair amount of strategy (I know you think it doesn't but my record on it shows otherwise), but this map wouldn't.

A quick analysis:

In 2 player games it will ALWAYS favour the person going first. 99vs100 is 80.79 % in favour of the attacker, so 2x this is about 64%.

In games of more than 1 player it is wrong to ever attack first. In fact if you managed to put a load of high ranked players on this map (would never happen but..), noone would ever attack, ever.

Also, as an aside, can you imagine how many more of the damn "Dice suck" threads this map would generate!

you can still choose, if players want to gamble they do this and if they want to pit strategic wits against each other they play any other map

actually you got it wrong.

each person in a 6p game starts with a terit. normally CC puts 3 troops on that terit. like just any other map if you look at it before round 1 you'll see 3 troops in each terit. now let's say you and me play a 1v1 game. i start first. i have 2 terits you have 2 and neutral has 2. for those 2 terits i get 200 troops. i place them and attack you. and since you have 2 terits with 3 troops each it means i win in round 1. that's the whole idea. you have no strategy and with very little effort (clicking the mouse twice) you end up with lot's of points. just like the lottery. basically that's what this is. if you have the chance of going first then you win. simple as that.

exactly my point. i don't think that a person that played at least once at the lottery in his whole life will actually pass the opportunity to play on this map.

imagine you're at 2497 points and need to leave to work in 3 minutes. quickly join one of these and if you're lucky you're a major :D
