NPR has an account of "fishiness" going on in the Democratic caucus...

How'd Ron Paul do again?

Oh wait, I bet the media just isn't reporting the TRUE number of Paul votes. After all, I'm SURE he got at LEAST 75% of the vote! On both sides! He's attracting Americans, after all!

But what happened to the Luns revolution? [crestfallen]

I was really hoping Huckabee didn't win Iowa, he might actually have a shot in the general election. Although the caucuses aren't really as big an indicator of who will win the nomination as the press will have you believe, Only in about half the caucuses since they were made the first electoral event in 1972 has the Iowa winner gone on to win the nomination, and it's just a really goofy system in general. I'm just sayin'.

I agree with you Spurg. I'm liking Huckabee less and less the more I hear of him, as a Republican, that is. And yeah, the Iowa system is odd.

Don't be saddened...this is a day of rejoicing. If Ron Paul loses we all win. My campaign was to pull the CC vote away from Paul and I just want to take this opportunity to say, "Thank You, CC!" Together, we did it!

My partner and I have been watching MSNBC all evening. When they finally called for Obama, we looked over at each other and were both teary-eyed.

It was rather touching.

I misread this at first... I thought he meant Huckabee has a shot at getting the nomination, not winning the whole thing. I can't see him beating any of the top three Dems.

Bah! Come on over to the Richardson camp. He's got my vote if he can hang on until it's our turn to vote.

Wow, I didn't figure there'd be two of us. He's toast, but I feel he'll be an awesome Sec. State for somebody.

But can I ask what the last 30 years of American politics tells us except that appeal to Southern evangelicals is crucial to win elections? Never mind the optimism (I don't quite get why weight loss links with making the US great again, but people will believe it) and he could be a fearsome candidate. He doesn't even have money yet

Interesting note...

Uncommitted did better than Chris Dodd on the Democratic side.

I have been a long-time Richardson proponent, both on and off of CC (I had the second-ever mention of Richardson on the boards:
http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14546&start=0

and the majority since, but I explain my position most recently in the Democratic Primary Poll thread:

http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewto ... 4&start=15 ).

The fat is, it's not a matter of being able to hold on. His grip has already failed and he's now just sitting in the bottom the pit on top of Biden and Dodd's bones.

His folks threw their support to Obama for the caucus from what I can find. There still may be some hope in New Hampshire. I like the guy too.

Is it odd that today on the news service here in Australia they had a run down of the candidates running - I had heard of a few of them already purely from being on these boards, but to actually hear it on our news service made me think just how much American politics dominates the entire world. I wouldn't have even known there was an election in Pakistan if it weren't for the assasination, let alone know the names of the candidates who were running for nomination to have a crack at the presidency -

Just an interesting thought

The 'election' in Pakistan has been getting pretty major coverage in the UK for a while now... I'd have thought it was a pretty major event, although I suppose we do have a lot of people of Pakistan origin so it is perhaps more relevant than to Australia...

But yes, American politics does get pretty big coverage. Whoever wins is gonna have their finger over a huge red button, so I guess we all want to know who it will be! Plus Bush is certainly a worldwide figure now, so the election of his successor is bound to make the news.
