Lanyards' Brazil(V5 Pg. 6) [REVAMP][abanodoned]

Post by lanyards »

Version 5:

==================================================================

Hey all, I have decided to start a Brazil Revamp. Here is the first draft:

I need lots of feedback, so any ideas would be nice. We need to figure out what to use as a background. Also I need to figure out how to do the mountains as well. Well, I hope you like it so far.

The Fuzzy Penguin has already started work on an 'official' revamp. It's probably best that you speak to him or the original mapmaker to get permission...

Marvaddin said I could go ahead and work on it. So I have permission, but can I have some feedback on the map?

Looks alot nicer, but needs some work.

Anyway, first thing that comes to mind is the names of the countries. Its too much of a mess right now.

if you have marv support then it all good.

first suggestion increase the image a bit. you still have a lot until the 630*600px limit. and as it currently lays some terits are very small and army numbers will fit poorly, not to mention names are all over the borders.

so just up the size.

I voted for the original map.

But I guess I'll be out numbered. So far, at least your borders are smooth.

I voted yes it is....if marv supports it then there is nothing I can do.

Do you possibly have MSN? Lone.Prophet volunteered to help me get a few new ideas for mine, and we are going to chat about it tonight. Maybe the three of us could work on it together?

Just a thought, and if you don't want to I understand....just thought it may go faster, or turn out even better :D

There are a few things about your version though, that I saw right away.
1) The text is way too scrambled around...unfortunately it has to be kinda small so it doesn't overlap.
2) The army circles are nice, however you might want to add transparency to the black outline as well.
3) There aren't any impassable borders yet (I know it's only a first draft, just something to look at)
4) Unless I can't see them correctly, there are a lot of missing accents on a lot of the territory names.

Anyway, shoot me a PM or add me to MSN if you want, and the three of can talk about it tonight and figure something out.

Thanks for the comments. About the accents, they are really small, but I am sizing up the map to 600 pixels wide so there will be more room and the fonts and font size will change. I think they will be noticable then. As for the mountains, I left them off for now, because I don't know what style they are going to be. Any ideas?

Not really sure, since they are fictional they shouldn't be depicted as a mountain, river, forest, ect...that's one of the things i'm stuck on too.

this seems strange to me.
both yours and fuzzy penguin's map show great potential to be an improvement on the current one...
but, are you both going to continue working separately?
will it come down to a vote when both are finished?

Well, there are no rivers or mountains were Marvaddin put the impassables, but there are a few rivers flowing around the area and there are a few mountain ranges it looks like:

Mabye they can just be fictional mountains and rivers, I think its probably better than than blobs.

Lanyards has promted to work separately. I guess then that the best map will come out of the foundry. I wish him the best of luck in the creation, and have offered to give advice, or help him with any issue that arises.

As for myself and Lone.Prophet, we will continue to work on our revamp as well :D

To the Mods - if this is official, should it be moved to the main foundry, and given another thread, or merged with mine?

To Lanyards - you can make the borders whatever you want, i was just telling you what marv originally told me. Good luck :D

At the moment guys I dont think I can allow two revamps of the same map to go throught the foundry, since only one can acctually make it throught the foundry.

I will have to have some discussion with a few people about this before I let any of these maps move throught the process.
What do you know about map making, bitch?

How about mine can move through to the Main Foundry, then only one moves to Final Forge?

I think you all need to have a little sit down with marv to decided the future of this map.

Agreed. Either way is fine with me, however I am sure we can figure something out for the best of everybody :)

I have asked if he would like to, but he has opted to continue his own version (if it's allowed by marv and the mods).

Like gimil has said, there can only be one revamp, so we will hopefully discuss the matter with marv very soon to decide the future of the map :)

I think since this is Brazil, with the Amazon rain forest and all, the obvious choice for borders would be trees. Maybe big tall ones. Or putting a river or something. IDK. But good job so far, Lanny. :)

It looks way better. Keep up the good work. Hopefully we will see it in the foundry soon. :D
