Concise description:

• notes to yourself should open a new game chat log

Specifics:

• when a user submits a game chat message with the "note to self" checkbox selected a seperate log window should open that contains only game chat messages that have the "notes to self" property

This will improve the following aspects of the site:

• seperates private messages from public messages

Would help to have a separate chat box under the existing one on the game chat. The separate box would be used for Private messages to yourself or to teammates.
1. Lessens chance of making a private message public by failing to check the box.
2. Keeps the public chat log cleaner and easier to follow since it would not include the private messages.

I do believe the game already has that (note to self for non-team games and show this message to teammates only for team games).
And you have to be cautious on always checking the box if you want to talk to your teammates only...

incorrect, the game does not already have the option. he wants an entirely seperate box to avoid posting team plans in the game chat. i for one do not like the idea. i can not tell you the countless times we have posted intentional "team chat" messages in the game log to confuse, mis-direct our opponents. it can be a great part of the game to throw a team off or to just confuse the hell out of them. if you are having trouble with clicking the box, PM your partner the game number and your thoughts if you are not online at the same time. and if you are online at the same time, use skype or aim or messenger or adium or whatever... the black jesus has spoken...-0
