[29-Sep-2006] Server downtime this weekend

Post by lackattack »

I really screwed up the server today. I foolishly deleted some system files and permanently disabled conquerclub.com email #-o

Since I don't have any backups of system files (note to self, start making backups!!) I have no choice but to rebuild the server. I've never done this before and I figure it will take a whole day. Conquer Club will be down during that period.

I want to get things started tomorrow, September 30th at 11:00am EST so don't begin any real time games around that time. If you miss any turn(s) because the website is down, then please accept my sincere apology but you'll have to live with it.

In the meantime I am going to disable the contact form (nobody is getting the emails) and post a warning to the My Games page...

Taking an enemy on the battlefield is like a hawk taking a bird. Though it enters into the midst of a thousand of them, it pays no attention to any bird other than the one it has first marked.

Hopefully this happens while I have my colonel hat on so I can wear it for the weekend. I just got it back from the dry cleaners.

Just a suggestion, don't know if this is possible, but why don't you just add 24h to any deadline in the database? Would this be possible?

Theoretically it could be as simple as executing one update query on the database.

Hattrick is a football management game and they automatically extend all transfer deadlines when the site is down for maintenance work.

damn... hope it doesnt fall on my turns in sequential games. If it takes less than 24 hours u will have the server up again wont u? If so i probably wont be affected because the site close down starts when im asleep.

This would be the perfect opportunity for those who do not miss turns to take advantage and see how the miss turn strategy works if you do not die before you get multiplied
