Auto-Remove Newly Created Deadbeat Accounts

Post by cu chullain »

Auto-Remove Newly Created Deadbeat Accounts
Basically, this feature would automatically delete, suspend, or at least remove from a game any player who has 0 completed games and misses their first turn.

Specifics:
If an account is created, and they make no attempt to play their first turn, they are automatically removed from all games they are in. In addition, should they join a game and play first, they would have only 1 hour to make their first move.

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
    1) You won't have games locked up for days waiting for some account that will never be played to get booted for being a "deadbeat."
    2) You will no longer have to deal with new accounts being created, joining a game, and then doing nothing. With only one hour (or basically automatically making their first turn start once they join and have the first position), they will at least have to try the game out or be removed from the game, allowing others to enjoy it.

Or you could buy premium, play unlimited games, and stop whining.

This has absolutely nothing to do with this thread.

actually it does...

cu is basically saying that since he doesn't have premium, he has to wait 3 days to wait for a deadbeat to...well...deadbeat. his problem is easily solved if he gets premium...

Wrong and wrong. New Recruit Deadbeats affect everyone, I play loads of games at a time and they STILL wind me up. I think this is a good suggestion and would significantly reduce the highly unnecessary drawing out of games by deadbeat accounts that will never be logged into again. Buying premium does not solve the issue of deadbeats joining your games, it just means you can join more games, where you still get new accounts joining that are logged into once and then never again.

A modification I would put forward for this suggestion is: That the new accounts are monitored for the first 10 days after creation by a script, if they're not logged in to for a period of 96 consecutive hours, then they are automatically dropped/kicked from the games they're in.

I agree. Even if I am in thirty games, I am still annoyed when people do not take their turns. It slows the game and can hand people a easy win.
Also easy points...

hmm I would say good concept, bad idea.

Perhaps it would be better if new accounts that had taken ZERO turns were automatically deleted after 30 days. That would free up their username. If an account has taken a turn, then I think it should remain in case the person comes back eventually.

I'm glad for the opinions voiced, but am hoping that it will be looked at, perhaps modified by someone who's been here longer. Premium or not, it's annoying to freeze games this way. While I do not have premium, I would not buy it just to have 10 "deadbeat" games clogging my active games. Since I play mostly from a phone, I wouldn't ever be able to play more than a few games at once anyways...

Great idea! As one being plagued by someone (most likely some scumbag I bet that I put away to do some time) that is creating deadbeats and putting 1-2 in each game, I love it. It sure beats not letting any new people in my now private games.
