it depends what time of the 100 years, it might be hard to do 100 years in one map

Not a bad idea
100 years are very long for one map,find a "main event" like these could be a good choice:

Or you could do it like the WW 2 maps and do some major battles over the whole war.Like pick famous city battles or certain places where multiple battles occured over the war.
