G.I. Joe of the newer ones was good as well. And anything with Jet Li, Tony Jaa, Jackie Chan, or Charlie Sheen are usually good. The Departed = a great movie. I got more if you want.

Yeah, give us an Idea. Are you after all-time classics of cinema, or recommendations for good brainless action-entertainment?

All-time must-watch list:
Casablanca
High Noon (The original w/ Gary Cooper and Grace Kelly)
Mr Smith Goes to Washington
The Maltese Falcon
The Magnificent Seven (The original, with Yul Brenner)
(It's a Wonderful Life would have been there, but everybody sees that 100 times every Christmas season)

Some other personal favorites:
Shennandoah
Rio Bravo (John Wayne)
The Man who Knew Too Much, and
Rear Window (2 Alfred Hitchcock/Jimmy Stewart collaborations)
Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
Second Hand Lions
Bucket List
Diary of a Mad Black Woman (or just about anything by Tyler Perry)
The right answer to the wrong question is still the wrong answer to the real question.

Some of these have been said before, but I'll emphasize them.

Oceans 11 (and 12 and 13, though the original is always better)
V for Vendetta
Forest Gump
Armageddon
Master and Commander
O Brother Where Art Thou
Across the Universe (yes it's kind of a musical... but it's good)

Probably my favorite bunch of non-girly movies

Primer, it's this amazing indy science fiction film made on a budget of only 7 grand. Normally you'd expect a movie like this to be shit, with shoddy camera work and whatnot, but it's actually really quite amazing. I'd also recommend The Adventures of Baron Munchausen. Might be a bit childish, but still quite good. The Triplets of Belville is a pretty good movie, it's cartoon and made by the French. Don't worry about dubs or anything like that though, as there's little to no dialogue. And of course, you've got your movies like 5th Element, 12 Monkeys, Fight Club, Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Or the original Italian Job, I enjoyed that. Cult classics like Rocky Horror Picture Show, Pulp Fiction and Clockwork Orange are always great. And your good ol' comedies, like Young Frankenstein and Space Balls and The Producers, or The Holy Grail and Life of Brian and The Meaning of Life and whatnot. Oh, True Romance was a pretty good movie, and Old Boy was a great foreign film (I believe it's Korean). So ya, hopefully there's some there that you haven't seen to get you started, and some others that you'll want to watch again. Sorry about the fact that it's not really in list format...

The Man Without a Name trilogy with Clint Eastwood:

The Good the Bad and the Ugly,
A Fistful of Dollars, and
For a Few Dollars More

also more with Clint (one of my all time favorites)

The Outlaw Josey Wales
Pale Rider
Unforgiven
Kelley's Heroes
(pretty much any Clint Eastwood western is worth your time in my opinion)

A few timeless classic comedies:

Caddyshack
Stripes
Vacation
Blazing Saddles

A couple of great all-time classics:

Stalag 17
The Longest Day

And the great thing about most of the movies I've listed above is that many of them can be purchased from your local Wal-Mart bargain bin for less than the price of a rental
