Guys, please read further down the thread on the first page, I came up with some ideas of self regulation so that mods can not mostly not worry about it. When I have time I will put them in their own thread better organized, formatted and fixed up with links from here.
yeah, it could get out of control... here is a nice example of a feedback section gone awry...
Hmm, glancing down a couple pages, it mostly seems fine.
3 star system
A key part of this system/idea is that neutral "average rating" would not reduce ones rating any, and in fact increase it. I can see dropping the 'increase it', so it just has no effect. But its crucial that it not reduce someones rating (assuming they have alot of max ratings)
The reason for this is, because overall judgement of people here don't allow for average rating. They think its actually a bad rating. Somehow 3 stars here have become a negative rating for too many people. So too few use it.
Without average having impact on the overall rating, that problem should be fixed. Yet one can see the number of each just by looking into the profile, so the information of average and so forth is still there. Plus the information from the self regulated comment system should allow for more accurate, more informative, ratings. And because the comments are listed by type, it makes looking through them easier.
