How a map can transform through production.

I've no plans to sticky this right now but look at it.

I think a lot of people showing up need to look at this and see what people might be expecting all of you to be capable of doing. I don't mean to discourage you but I want you to know what you are getting into when you post drafts.

This was not the result of the creator's whimsical fancy. This was the result of their initial idea being transformed by the foundry.

Yes, you do all the real work. You come up with the initial idea, you draw and redesign all the artwork. You argue against what you don't like and agree with some of the ides of others (ideally) and your map changes over time. Eventually you write the xml to make it do what you designed. That's what we want to see happening.

Anyone thinking they can post anything and then we say ok or no is mistaken. This is not all or nothing, you need to be ready for criticism and, more than anything, change.

You need to be willing to work with the process to polish your map and watch it become something everyone with an open mind and a passion for the site can love. That's the goal.

To close, if this goal is not being met; if you feel excluded or unjustly shunned let us know! Send me or AndyDufresne a pm but be ready. The sad truth may be that nobody else likes your idea at all, and we can't cure that. If the more cheerful case is that your idea was simply lost in the sea of hundreds of other great ideas, that we can cure, and a little bump on your part is never going to be frowned upon either.

Until I have another boring 3:00 am insomnia induced rant. Happy map making.

I don't like the text on the "Today" map. Can't you change it to be more defined?

If you want that - then you have to goto the Map's thread and post it there...

I think Siege! is another good example of this, as I though some of those first drafts were passable at the time, but the end result was so much better.

So do I, but if I remember correctly there was a protracted argument about the perspective changing across the map.
