Map Ideas Cleanup

Postby blakebowling on Tue Jun 24, 2008 12:56 am

I was looking at the map ideas forum, and I thought it would be a good idea to cleanup the forum. [I think I saw this somewhere]
If the ideas forum was cleaned up, it would be easier for everyone to see what maps are working, and what maps have been abandoned, or are not actually ideas at all. (not that im trying to put more work on the cartos ( gimil))

I think a better idea would be a proactive policy when it comes to marking maps Abandoned or otherwise. Right now there is no regulation about how long a map has to be inactive to be Abandoned (save the mapmaker saying such). Hence, you have a boatload of old, thoroughly abandoned maps without tags noting that.

Oh there is a policy for how long a map needs be inactivate before being marked, I just don't think we've taken the time to sort it out for a while. I use to do it when I kept track of it all in the Dev. Atlas 1.0...hm

Andy, i agree it could use a clean-up.
I don't think putting it back into the Maps in Developments again would be fruitful.
Perhaps what needs to happen is that there needs to be an archive sub-forum of maps started, and if they don't progress after a month, they get moved to the archive.
As long as the mapmaker can find them again, then they can be moved forward again via a simple PM if the mapmaker wants to take up development again and go through the Foundry Process Ideas -> onwards.
I think this needs to be trimmed the same way the main foundry had done. ;)
