Permabanned mapmakers

Postby InkL0sed on Tue Sep 30, 2008 5:24 pm

To what extent is posting updates and responses for a permanently banned map maker (ie, t-o-m or reverend_kyle) legal?

Just curious.

Nothing will happen, the map will either die, or someone will finish it up.

For any discussion about the permabanning of t-o-m, please head this way  viewtopic.php?f=6&t=65279

In relation to the original question, I have no idea what happens in these circumstances, but will try and find out ;-)

if a mapmaker is permabanned he can continue his work with the help of a friend. he simply tells his friend via YM, skype, MSN, etc what to post and he continues his work

I was going to come in and say exactly what DiM said: a mapmaker can keep working, he/she will just need to find an intermediary to post maps and run the thread. It would slow the process down considerably, but it wouldn't have to mean the death of the map.

Well then these is very unfair decision,Permabanned from all forums. They need to show what is TOM doo to be permabanned from all forums. If he done something bad in some other forums, then ok,but here too? Totaly wrong.

Check This topic for info on tom's banning
Now, they could give tom access to only the Final Forge forum, however, I'm fairly certain that that won't happen.

Maybe it would be not only fair but also benefical to give him acces to the foundry, as his posts here were allways worthy and useful.

A forum ban is a ban from all forums, without exception. I'm not too sure on the technicalities of how the forum bans work, but I know that posting privileges are removed from all forums and usergroups. General Discussion is the place to discuss that  viewforum.php?f=6

On his previous forum bans, t-o-m was unable to make any posts, but did get others to post updates on his behalf. Rev_Kyle submitted updates by proxy after his forum ban, so I guess that sets the precedent. To keep tabs on what happens next, then I'd invite you this way to the Madagascar map  viewtopic.php?f=64&t=49418

IF i understand Twill, its possible to get Acces only in MAp foundry, but they dont want to do that.
You can find these in GD.

qwert
Maybe you dont read what i write. Why you can alove hem, only to have acces in hes MAdagascar topic,so he can finish map, from what i see and what i read in these topic, hes behaviour is quit normal, and if these possible, then you shoul alove these. Because i think that is not fair that be permabaned from all forums. Reconsider these option, what can bad to bring, its only can be bad for hem not to rest of people, and he can finish hes map. These is all what i say,and i dont defending tom.

Twill on Wed Oct 01, 2008 4:22 pm

Yes, it is possible, but we don't use it because once you start per-forum bans and vacations, it blurs that line between acceptable and not even more -

but when Andy support these punisment for T-O-M,so i stop any discusion in GD,because when MOD in MAP FOUNDRY dont want to react and say some good word for these map maker, maybe he realy dont worth enough to help hem,to get only acces in Map Foundry?

a perma bann is a perma bann. start cutting some slack and giving access right in just some parts and you'll create a dangerous example. soon all banned people will demand some sort of rights given back to them and mayhem will be caused.
tom can finish his map and he can comment on other maps via a friend because he can still read the forum.
