Are they still able to be contacted? I think not. I tried contacting him about a year ago, and no reply

Yes, MrConfigT, I know that for a facte_i_pi wrote:Who did the original of this map? (the real original) MrConfigT

I knew the answer to those 2
and I think we should have another Revamp competition for it

However, a non-Middle Earth non-copyright-skirting revamp I would participate in.

When it does, I'd be the first to volunteer to enter a Centrescape revamp competition, but for now I have to vote no.

I think with centerscape, it's a lot more clear, however... the gameplay is 100% original to CC, so if we just come up with some 100% original artwork, then there is absolutely no fathomable problem. Right?

Yeah that's what I'm getting at oaktown. I'm not suggesting just posting a new Middle Earth map, that's a complete waste of time and effort. But with the gameplay and XML that is already in place, there is potential to simply change the graphics to something completely original, change the co-ords in the XML, and everything else is already sorted out. If it's a bit premature, and CC has plans for a competition, then sure I understand. But there does seem to be a fair few mapmakers who are willing to take part in a revamp comp, and if that comps rules stipulate that there is to be no reference to Middle Earth whatsoever, then it should be fine right?
Basically, what I'm getting at is - would CC rather take ownership of the whole thing, or would pro-active community involvement be welcomed, given that it could speed up the process and bring a sense of solidarity?

You're both right: the gameplay of Centrescape wouldn't seem to be an issue, since we still have the play configuration in the Centrescape map. However, you and I don't know what went on exactly, so until the dust settles and we get further information from the folks upstairs, talk of a Centrescape redux might be premature. Lack's last mention of the situation in Announcements - which did not mention the Centrescape map specifically - was this...lackattack wrote:Any further changes to these maps is also not an option.
Believe me, I think that a Centrescape revamp is an absolutely brilliant idea. I really do hope that it will be able to happen at some point in the not-so-distant future, and again I'd be happy to either run it or participate in it For now, though, I think we need to give both that map and the classic map a bit of breathing room.
I the meantime, we are trying to put together another competition which should launch soon. Keep your ears open.

However at this moment in time I do not feel that any more revamps into the foundry will benefit CC at this moment in time. To many times this year have we had a shake up/rebellion with revamp map images going live. With three other revamps in the foundry atm (which will cause some unrest as well) I just think that new revamps shouldn't be going into the foundry until we are ready for them.

And British Isles, too.
