Haven't suggest anything in ages. Here's one to start me up again.
I imagine categorizing this in reinforcement tab, labelling it pre turn forts. But it could take shape a number of different ways.
Usually a fort is at the end of the turn, but it could understandably be done at the beginning of a turn too. That's what this is. Before a player deploys or cashes any sets, they may make 1 fort from either a territory they own to another territory, or from another friendly territory to themselves (would be a nice touch). I put universal in the title in that you can on your turn take troops from a friendly. So its not just ability to move your own troops, but any team members as long as you are recipient of the troops.. or giver, you can give your troops to a teammate at start as well. This could be done with add on or piggy backing on other fort systems. So a pre turn parachute fort, etc chained/adj.unlimited. I'm not going to pursue that line of thought here... but yeah. A pre turn unlimited fort seems ... unwise. But either chained, parachute, or adj pre turn fort suggested here.
So this makes the first turn of any player a bit more tough. But at the end you won't be able to strengthen your improved attack (at least number wise improved attack). We could however make it in addition to end of turn forts. So getting 1 pre turn chained fort, and one post turn chained fort etc.
Anything that adds strategy to the game, improves the site. Alterations like this I believe are in line with the game. If I'm not mistaken there are at least 2 games of real risk games that offer this possibility. Off the top of my head, I think the halo versions have it and maybe the starcraft one? Could be just one of those... and it could be more by now. Anyways. It's an exciting feature from what I remember.
Risk already favours the attackers advantage and this kind of pushes that. I've talked about this with Hardattack.. who is no longer on the site as far as I know but when I mentioned it to him he was very much for it. Essentially we thought there was no reason why in a war scenario there had to be a predictable time to gain troops or mobilize reposition them. D day was the rallying of troops to begin an invasion. Troy... they moved troops in with a horse, then BAM. Pre fort

ok I'm probably babbling again. Pre turn fort replacing end of turn fort. Or pre turn fort in addition to post turn. For some games this would speed them up. For other games... like trench games maybe. It would just be a really interesting addition. And yeah.
