You're right, Shannon. They do all have distinct personalities. I haven't had one since childhood since my husband dislikes cats. As a child I had tons. One I was particularly fond of was playful and loving and best friends with our bunny (though the bunny wanted more than friendship). Another, a Siamese, was very feisty and fearless. Our doberman ran away from her. Another tiger cat was a complete slut. She would come home every few months pregnant, and she had huge batches of 7 or 8 kittens. My dad hated her. We were too poor to spay our cats.
A few months ago I visited my sister who owns a fat lazy cat who is very shy. She came out one night when I was up late by myself and we made friends. I was amazed that I'd forgotten how comforting cats can be and what wonderful company they are. Alas, I'll probably never own another one myself (except electronically since we have catnipdreams & now tinkerbell).
