Did I say I wanted to play noobs? On the contrary, I prefer to take on Captains, Majors and Colonels. Specifically, there are usually several 4-player, no cards, chained doubles games opened by excellent players like David Wain, Nephilim and JR. These are the ones I prefer to join along with a "junior partner" (or anyone really) who enjoys forming a common strategy and the challenge of taking on good players.

And I put you on ignore after you said you were going to put me on your list. Not related to this thread, but my wonderful "pleasant chap" thread.

Oops, when I posted that, I was tired.
I meant to say using a noob to get more points, is a very bad thing to do.
Considering your point total will be what, 3300, and the opponents will be somewhere around 4k + maybe even 5k+ this is a very underhanded thing to do.
You'll be gaining points like crazy, and losing hardly any when you get your ass handed to you (It'll happen)
Good luck however, I just won't take part in any of your games :)

I'm not sure if it's underhanded. Ok, tell me this. Why do we see players like those I mentioned starting games for anyone to join if they don't expect to face infinite number of player combinations? It's a matter of fact that team two is sometimes a random combination of players, and sometimes it's a regular pair that plays well together. By the same token, team one is probably a pair that has played many double before as well. So if two majors can agree to play a doubles together, why can't a captain and a corporal. The point advantage in a win is nice, of course, but the gains are modest. One still has to be a very good singles player to make any significant points progress. In my "recruitment" of a junior partner, I am looking for someone to work with me, who is earnest in his/her desire to improve and progress. I don't want a puppet or a blind follower. Gimil is a perfect example. He PMed me, saying he wants to join up. He's taken on the role of understudy, but he is talkative and he suggests moves.

I guess my question is: How put off are majors/colonels/captains when they start a team game and suspect those who join against them are after their points? :?
