that was for you jd

nes pas de deviors! oh no!

*cough*

you know this whole thread is you guys trumpetting your own doubles amazingness

hear this:

your play is formulaic and riddled with slight mistakes. you are all too scared to deviate from the bushwacker norm to actually improve your game. im glad i ended up not joining, as is DW im sure. i have a lot of respect for some of your members but my point stands nonetheless. get some balls already

hahaha, khaz. first let me say, i respect you and that's not likely to change. you're a good player and a witty guy. here's what i was trying to say: imo, we have made all the rite moves in our games w/ you and wain, drops should have given 3 of them to us, but dice have screwed us. we'll see what happens; i reckon it as us outplaying you b/c we have made all the proper moves but the dice have ruined us.....

like i said, i like you......but it seems you have a hint of hypocrisy. if this thread is all about us talking ourselves up, your last post comes off kind of conceited, doesn't it? like your little analysis is authoritative? blanket pronouncements about a bunch of people's play, and you have no evidence that you actually know what you're talking about

ya, i hate this bw style....i can't think of any other ways to play....it must be flawed, y'know, since we outrank you and your pals

khaz, i'm pretty sure i got your record in games vs. BW's

it's 7-11....that's better than most, i'm sure, but you still lose more often than you win to our tired and rigid style

love ya, man, cheers

im not sure what my record is to be perfectly honest with you. worth bearing in mind however is my games completed (around the 320 mark) i wasnt very good when i started playing here and i only started playing at colonel level a month or so ago. you said you made all the right moves which i suppose implies that we didnt? i cant say i noticed any mistakes but thats the nature of mistakes isnt it. i love you too neph, dont get me wrong. i do notice you pull a strange move out of the bag every now and then though. and from my recent games both with and against bushwackers i feel obliged to say that you all play almost exactly the same at doubles and always the same settings and map combos. this point has been raised a few times - it doesnt hold very much water in my opinion. if you dont like the settings dont play them. however there seems to be no room for improvisation or improvement on your 'BW standard play' on a given map which i think is probably detrimental to all of you. worse still is that a few of your members cant accept a proper strategic beating (ie on a roughly equal drop with no huge dice input) with any sort of grace whatsoever. as a quick aside i should add that eddymush taught me a great deal about doubles. all the basis of my play in that format is his and i owe him for that. it seems to me though that whereas i (the royal i) can try something different and build up my doubles game using this basis to hopefully get better still at it, you lot just stick to the plan (we all know there is a BW formula) thanks for the intelligent reply neph, look forward to some more games when this lot are done

cheers, khaz, you have shown a great deal of honor and courtesy, and not a little fairness. allow me to respond: yes, we play tons of games w/ the same format, and at least from what i know there is a fairly uniform strategy. but i think you're generalizing just a tad much. ok, let's assume for argument that the basis of no cards strat that you learned from eddy represents something akin to the overall BW no cards strat. well, first of all, that's a big assumption that you seem to be making. it may or may not be true; i think the problem is that you haven't played 20+ games versus every member of our clan. without a very broad sample, i think you're painting all of us w/ a very broad brush. what you say might be true, but you can't really back it up, unless you claim that you have observed a shitload of games that you didn't actually play in.

also, you said eddy gave you a good foundation for no cards strat (same here), and that the difference between you and us is that you are trying to go from their to a higher, more creative level of play while we just stick to a tired old formula. i think the point above applies here, too. just how do you know that no one in our clan is trying to grow the same as you? i just don't think you've played all of us, or even any of us, enough to say that. and even if you had, it's mighty presumptuous--we all want to get better and learn how to work the board. for the record, in no cards games the strat is fairly straitforward, imo, and it's pretty rare that i try for different bonuses, b/c the odds of getting the small ones are so much better. the need for adaptation in no cards dubs isn't as great as you make it out, methinks.....

you and wain are awesome player, i don't think you've made major mistakes in our games, we just got pooched by the dice

and finally: some bw's can't take a beating gracioiusly.....well, again, you haven't played everybody a whole lot, please don't generalize, and hell, we all have our bad days when a loss in CC really pisses us off, esp if we think it's the dice......besides, your clan has JAMIE, OOPS, i finally played the trump card, you have no come back for that one

ill quote this first:

"besides, your clan has JAMIE, OOPS, i finally played the trump card, you have no come back for that one"

youre right, but in my defence i did everything in my power to have him kicked out...

and youre probably right about that generalisation, i havent played a huge number of games with anyone, let alone BWs. I was waiting for you to mention him, i swear...

Yeah, so? Everyone praises the people who make colonel by only playing standard games because it's somewhat harder, but the fact is that 99% of the games they have played here have been Classic map, standard, escalating, unlimited.... or something similar. We play just about every setting, and every map. Of course we have our favorites, so does everyone, but we do deviate a lot and play outside our comfort zone unlike your "Standard Game Heroes".

did you ignore my first post in here?

Me and Mike Doherty will play you on your own settings. 5 different maps, best of 5 against any 2 of you.

I think they are choosing to ignore a real challenge... they just let me and Khaz take more of their points off them... This thread should be called "BW's Donate their points get in line"

AK what you said is only half true... there are some of your members that will not play certain maps, certain settings and most laughable will only play a certain colour

But i still love you all..... 8)

it seems to me the only way to decide who is better is to play a seven or nine game series. Same map, same settings and same players. The series should even out the randomness and some of the luck. because of the initial setup someone is disadvantaged from the start. you guys are all premies...set it up and get it on
