See, this is precisely why I DON'T like this idea. If this is going to be a problem for someone, then they should use some self-restraint and not join any more games until after the holidays. I know...self-restraint, what a concept. Come on people...don't make your own problem into a situation where it's everyone else's problem.

It's not difficult to have a general idea of how long a game is going to last, based on the map and settings, no. It really isn't. Plan better.

and for the others commenting on other holidays, I suggest when they arrive, you could suggest it at that time as it says major holidays, the description of Christmas is an example as it is drawing near, but again, suggest any other major holiday and take them up when they come closer to the date and timeframe. Again, this is just a suggestion, and not meant to offend anyone.

Blitz only 33% of the world is Christian. You seem to have missed the point here. This is an online game site and last time I checked was not affiliated with any religious organization or Denomination.
You cant single out one religions holidays over another . Its discriminatory plain and simple. In any case Woodruff is correct. If you know you are going to be busy at a certain time of year be it a holiday or a vacation taper down your games in the prior weeks so that you don't have to worry so much about an on line game site

Don't people generally have more time to take turns during the holidays?

Lots of people suddenly aren't at work or school and tend to spend time indoors because of the weather.

I don't know, doesn't seem like it's a big deal to me.

It might suit some people to have extended turns over certain holiday periods but I'm sure someone playing that person and who does not celebrate that particular holiday will not be too happy. The system in place seems to work fine. If you are not able to commit time to games either don't start new ones or explain in game chat if you miss a turn. Most players will understand and the ones who don't can go on the naughty list.

Implement, please!

I want to get drunk w/o thinking am I up for play!!!

After re-reading, I want this like a perma option
not just over major hollidays.

Like extra-casual games(name doesn't matter)
just want an option so I can have more relaxed
gaming time.

Ok, now that I'm finally unbanned I can respond.

Please, please please please please loki, don't say "only 33% of the World". Do you realize how large of a demographic ONE THIRD of the entire world is?

And discrimination?!?!?! What the Hell are you talking about? Is it discriminatory against the Greeks that we don't have a Greek language forum? Is it discrimination that the mods have that "Merry Christmas from TeamCC" sig? Come on...this suggestion is just out there to help out one of the largest demographics on this site. I'm not even Christian and I celebrate Christmas (though, I know I'll have time on Christmas because I'll be up late at night without anything else to do).

I don't really care about this suggestion though because if someone truly cares about missing turns, then they'll find a way to take them.

What about those of us who actually have MORE of an opportunity to take turns during holidays? This essentially screws us over.

I like it. I do not think it is discriminatory - a lot of people celebrate Christmas. Maybe it could be implemented as a holiday list, and any holiday could be suggested to be added to the list, and it would need X number of supporters in order to get it added.

It seems to me that the holidays are a crazy time for a significant portion of the users on this site, and easing that pressure a little bit by letting them take their minds off of the game for a bit would not be a bad thing.

If their lives are THAT impacted by this game site, they need a very real change of perspective far greater than increasing the time necessary to take their turns.

I understand the frustration with holidays, but delaying everyone else for 48-hours is to me the wrong solution!

I placed a suggestion for a vacation mode to be added. Not exactly sure of the details, I'm still a newbie, but the main idea is to place yourself in "Vacation Mode" and have the system make your moves for you automatically. Instead of making others wait 48 hours, they will not wait at all.

There could be some sort of drop down list to tell the system how to handle "all" of your boards.
• Distribute troops due evenly from lowest count to highest count
• Distribute all on highest count
• etc
Like I said, I'm not sure of all the options, but at least it would keep you in the games and add to your troop totals.

Coming off of vacation mode could be done at a date/time you specify when you go on the mode, or maybe you have to explicitly take yourself off.

I think this would be fairer to the other players than making them all wait 48-hours

Papageek, please keep on topic with the suggestion.

Don't make this suggestion about your suggestion.

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • Gives the players more time to spend with friends, family and loved ones.

I’m sorry, but I thought my comment was “on topic”. The benefit that was stated by Blitsaholic was to be able to spend more time with friends and loved ones, which implies not have to worry about the games while doing so. To me that was the major jist of what he was proposing.

Maybe I shouldn’t have mentioned that I had made the other suggestion, but that suggestion is another alternative that would accomplish the same thing that Blitsaholic was look for, not timing out 3 times and losing every game they are in. I was merely offering an alternative that would not impose the long delays on those who are able to and want to play more over the holidays.

Hey, great, I have a 4 day weekend coming up, I can get in a lot of play time, and every game you try to play has a player or two with 48-hour delays – what a bumber that would be for the player who want to play more, not less.

This alternative would accomplish both things, you wouldn’t get kicked out of games and others wouldn’t be held up by your absence.

Blitzaholic, What is your opinion on this alternative?

I think we just let it go, seems like some are getting too sensitive. This can be resolved by players winding there games down to a minimal around this time frame.
