Tournament / real time games in the call out section

Postby Pedronicus on Tue Aug 01, 2006 11:36 am

I've mentioned this before.

But I've brought it up again as I've come up with a new way of organising a tournament where the organiser has little or no work to do (experience is a wonderful thing) - all the tournament players create the games and enter the game type / results.

As things stand, you cannot run a tournament in the call outs as there are so many real time shouts going on. There will be bumps galore to maintain a tournament and equally bumped real time threads. Chaos...

Whats the word on this please Lack? - I couldn't see it in any of the things to do list.

:idea: :?:

In an ideal world we would have three sub catergories;

1. Real Time
2. Tournaments
3. Call outs

I'm hoping that when we launch the global chat (probably in the next update) people will use that instead of the forum to get realtime games happening.

or would it be possible to make the tournys into stickys so that they dont get buried under realtime games every night?

Nope. Global chat is just a live, real time, based chat. So you can easily see who is on and chat with them. The makings for finding easy real time games.

As for making them stickys, perhaps when CC has an officially endorsed Tournament.

For now, perhaps just add the tag [Tourney] to all tournaments that are being created or are under way. People will be able to search for them easily and find the topics they are looking for if they fall too far into oblivion. And like Lack said, once real time games become easier to set up, there should be less of a problem.

Good idea AK - the organiser could request 'stickyness' on a thread where a large tournament is recruiting interested parties. Once all people have signed up (I suggest a cut off date to join up posted in the thread) - then we can request someone on the admin side of things to unstick it.
