Could be selectable via a check-box on game startup?

Perhaps if chosen more blank players get generated to stop whole teams getting continents early?!

Maybe the fortification bonus can be split between teammates occupying the same continent? Or 1 extra army for each team member occupying a continent that is not occupied by any other teams? Or maybe it's no fun like the other Andy said?
