PM notification for ALL game start option

Postby PLAYER57832 on Sun Apr 10, 2011 8:15 am

Concise description:
Have an option for pm notification when all games start
Specifics/Details:
This would be similar to speed game notification, except for all games. When any game starts you would get a pm notification.

To keep it from overwhelming the system, maybe only 2-3 notifications could be active at one time. (as long as the message was left, unread, no further notifications would be allowed)
How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
For people who start games, then go to the forums to kill time. This would make it easier to not miss a turn.

Also would help premium players who play a lot of games and who might have several large games "up", but want to play a few quicker "rt" games before finishing all the other turns.

I often have a few multiple-player games, but mostly like to play 1 vs 1. I get bored waiting around, so check out the forums... then lose track and forget to check back. This would not be a 100% cure, but would help a great deal. As an option, it would not have to be used by everyone.. many people would not want thier inboxes "clogged".

That last bit might not be technically possible or easy. It could be omitted readily.

My "fix" for this is that the last thing I do before leaving the site is checking my games. That way, my time in the fora didn't cause me to miss any turns.

If this is implemented, PLEASE make it a SEPARATE option from speed games. I want to be notified about speed games starting, but I would not want to be notified about all of my games starting.

Mu problem is not that I am missing turns, that is going 24 hours without taking them. (that happens rarely, but for other reasons).

The problem is I play a LOT of 2 player games. I never expect or demand a real time, but do know that a lot of freemiums hope these games will be real time. When I can, I try to comply and play relatively quickly. I appreciate playing quickly without being "tied to" a speed game. However, I also have a tendency to go into the forums and spend a bit too long answering folks. I find if I can get back to the game within a minute, anyone wanting a real time will still be there. If I wait longer.. likely not.

Of course, I agree.

Symmetry, you sneaky devil! <laughing>

(Glad to see I'm not the only one that does that.)
