2-3 stage, visible initial deployment

Postby kroovi on Wed Apr 13, 2011 4:06 am

Concise description:
  • The first couple (or three) rounds are "pre-game" where you can gradually deploy your troops, having also able to see your opponent's deployment.

Specifics/Details:
  • Let's say I have 10 troops to deploy. I can either deploy them all in the first round, or deploy 3 in the 1st round, 7 in the 2nd round, and so on...
  • This is done out in the open (unless foggy)
  • There will be a minimum amount you have to deploy each round, so that it would be impossible to play this mode, but practically playing just visible manual.
  • Of course no attack are available within these first few rounds.

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • This adds a new phase to the game, which consists of some strategy and might also reduce the advantage give to a player in an uneven drop

Then there has to be a minimum limit of troops to drop per round, as otherwise you'd just drop 0, 0, everything else. Or even 1,1, and the rest. Just takes more rounds for the same effect.

The game will have 2-3 rounds more, which I do not see any harm in.
But for the first time in CC you'll be able to drop while watching others drop, so there is an effect.

there would have to be a min. deployment for each round, say 1/3 or more, 1/3 or more, whatever is left over

in this setting i will always choose to drop the least amount of troops, so i can see what you do and then make up my mind on how to respond. This is a bad thing.

But you forget that if you choose to do that, against me (for example), I can do the same and have the last go.
The fact that being first is not better is a balancer, don't you think?

(p.s. freestyle does suck...)

being first never is good unless you can attack first...

so basicly you want to ament the current manual drop to be visiable and then.. random call on who goes first or not???
or do you intent to do it that the last placer is also the last attacker?...

I suggest that these "deployment rounds" will be actual rounds, so if you deploy first, you attack first and vice versa.

Manual drop is excellent, but this is something else.

But this is ABSOLUTELY NOT what I meant.
The first 3 round are dedicated ONLY for deployment. Whoever deploys first will eventually attack first, but not on the "deployment" rounds.

thanks for the PM, I am posting it here where it is more relevant..

still don't support the idea, but i think its pretty clear not its not as bad as i thought.
Still there is no advantage to making the deploymentphase any longer. any smart player will just lump his troops in the place it will do the most good, spreading out will not work then.. pretty simple
