Gifting Premium act like a Referral

Postby iamkoolerthanu on Sun Apr 24, 2011 10:26 am

Concise description:
  • If you gift premium to someone you should get the three month premium Bonus that you would have gotten if you referred that person

Specifics/Details:
  • If you gift premium to someone, you also get three months premium

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • More people will gift premium and the site will make more revenue. Think about it, if you refer someone, you get the bonus as a way for the site to thank you that you made them more money. Isn't giving the site money a way to do the same thing?

i'll be so grateful i'll buy you 1yr premium and collect my bonus 3 mths.

we each get 27 months for the price of 24 & there are no new members.

Maybe there could be a random chance of getting the 3 months? Although anytime something is random, people begin to feel cheated.

This won't happen, for the exact reason greenoaks stated above.

I'll leave this topic here for the time being, incase it develops into something more plausible.

would be a lot better that when gifting you could split it down into batchs of 3 month periods. i refuse to gift premium now because you have to give 12 months. and it is hard to pick one clan member when you have a couple in need of it.

greenoaks you make a good point that I haven't thought of. Maybe, if you gift someone premium, they now become some that you referred to the site. This way, the next time they actually buy premium, if they decide to, then you will get rewarded. Instead of getting rewarded right away you only get rewarded after they spend money at the site

And eddie, that would be nice also, but as a separate suggestion

I dont know why you cant do that, you buy 12 months, you just split it up.

I can see gifting seperate amounts happening (as long as you'd still be required to purchase a year at a time). But as kooler said that is a seperate suggestion.

How would it work if more than one person gifted to the same user?

I like that idea. The first 'gifter' would get the bonus, and then the second gifter would get the bonus if the gifted player bought premium for a second time

Good idea. Probably won't go thru though. You will have buddies buying each other premium and each will get 15 months for the same 25$.

Now this idea would work if you gift premium to an account that never had premium.

Perhaps you should suggest a site contribution award for those that gift premiums.

That is an idea as well... People that gift premium should get something in my opinion

Maybe only if you give a member his/her first premium?

This should really be implemented. Buy a year at a time and be able to give out 3 months at a time. Or charge $25 for a whole year and if people want to only buy 3 months at a time then charge $10. Seems like a normal subscription policy to me.
