Vote to Delete a Post, formally: Stupid Suggestions Button

Postby ksslemp on Sun Sep 24, 2006 1:31 am

I'd like to propose we add a Stupid Suggestion Button(this post should be deleted Button) at the top of the Suggestions forum page. When the hit count gets to 40 the post deletes.

We need a New title for the Button, apparently the word "Stupid" is offensive to some "Challenged" individuals.

Maybe "DIM Suggestions Button"?

If you don't like this post, well there must be something wrong with you.
So say I.

Hey, not a bad concept. Although stupid suggestions are less a problem than the same old suggestions suggested again for the thousandth time. I think we could do just as well expanding the "To Do" list. Right now there are only a list of things to to, and especially rejected ideas... there's no explanation, which may be confusing people. Then change the current title of the sticky to "TO DO LIST: READ THIS FIRST!!!"

This forum should be the LEAST used forum, since most good ideas have already been suggested and are waiting implementation, and there aren't many bugs. Yet there's always nuttery going on in here.

I could take the position that a number in here do and say

"Stupid idea"

and leave it at that :) But I won't

Unless the topic is in someone else is bound to post it as well - further adding to the volume in here. Some ways of reducing this - make the manual cover more topics - so "bugs" are clarified. Fill out the to do list more. In addition you could stop new players posting in here till they have played x games - will hit the discussion area more but no bad thing I guess.

Posts that are not bugs or approved could always be moved by the mods to another area - either discussion area or a non bug/dumped suggestions area.

I like your "Newbies" idea, that would have eliminated your posting.

Maybe i should have called it the "Post Removal Quorum Button". It's not so much a "Stupid" suggestion button as it is a "we've answered this post, Do you think it should be removed? " button.

People seem to be way too sensitive about the "Stupid" part of the title,

It's like the host of a radio show saying that "White People can't dance", and then some "IDIOT" calls in and says "I'm White and i dance great"!
We know, Don't Call!

To clarify - no it wouldn't have stopped my posting - it would have just been posted in a different area. Personally I think it all works fine as it is, just needs a bit more patienc from the older members (in terms of length played rather than age :) ).

Maybe a better way would be to allow the original poster to delete their post when their concerns have been addressed?

or both.

That kind of defeats what forums are about - information is shared.
Otherwise you'll find yourself getting irritated by similar posts.

Come on Tals, Be truthful. Wouldnt you like to have the option to eliminate your posting on the 19th?

Eliminated a player in this game

http://www.conquerclub.com/game.php?game=70983

I got the cards necessary to make a set but it then didn't allow me to redeem.

Code:

2006-09-19 06:20:39 - tals eliminated RobbieG from the game

No definitely not - I said I would still have made the post - otherwise the next new player who finds himself in that position will post that question.

I'd agree if I could vote to delete this thread though :) But that would be terrible - its only for the mods to make judgement calls on deleting and locking threads - not either th emore experienced or less experienced players

I'd have to disagree with the post above. Any thread in the public forum is public property. ;) That's why regular users can't delete their own whole threads. Feel free to delete your pointless, annoying, or ignorant posts though. Or better yet, don't even make them! ;)

Hehehe, this made me laugh. Andy is well respected in this forum as well as a mod. His posts are some of the most worthwhile posts to read on here because they actually contain helpful information.

But this is not a "public" website! I paid for a membership!
I just want to clarify what you're are saying, If most of the Members of this site would prefer to have the option of deleting posts which they originated, you would say NO?

If the Members thought this would make the site more enjoyable, then you should consider it, instead of Insulting Members!

Ah, but this is a public site at the heart. You don't have to pay. You don't have to pay to view the forums or post. Everything and anything said here is public property ;) If everyone went around deleting whole threads, I'm afraid we'd lose a lot of great posts, due to one person who started a thread. Even in some of the dumbest topics, there are a few sparkling gem posts that can catch your eye and make you laugh. The Flame wars forum is such a great example of this. It shows the full spectrum of crap and drivel to good quality flames, all of public domain. ;)
