How about this:
On the "Join A Game" page, make the little thumbnail pictures of the maps link to larger map pictures that open in a new window. That way if a person want to see what a map looks like without joining a game they can. I understand there's a link somewhere to the directory that holds the maps (?), but this way would be more user friendly.
