Recent Games (Currently 4)

HI Lack,
Could you increase the amount of recent games shown at the bottom of the games screen from 4 to say 6 or 8?
If you have premium and are in lots of games all at once, that might finish in quick succesion?

(I don't want to miss any games of the current 22 that I'm playing!) :oops:

I agree.. maybe games finished in the last 24 hours... or in the last 48 hours.. or let the person pick their number up to 40 or something.

Its an interesting idea. I like Rev's suggestion better about the time limit instead of the # of games. Something like 48 hours should be sufficient to check the wins and losses of your recent games.

Can you make it so that if there are less than 4 completed in the last 48 hours it still displays the last 4?

And lack, since we're on the topic of user games, can you shorten the "View user's completed games" to show only 25 or 50 games per page? Loading up 200 games at once is hard on my girlfriend's laptop. It even takes my decent computer a little bit to load up the whole thing.

It seems it would be unnecessary work for lack and be unnecessary space.. do you really stare at those so much that 2 days isnt enough..

If I hadnt finished any games in 2 days I'd just as much prefer it not be there.

Its needed for non-premium members. I like to see the past 4 games to check whether im on an upward or downward trend.

I like to check back on finished games for several days afterward to see if people chat. Good game and all that, as well as sometimes stuff like "You would have had me if you gone through the US instead of Europe..." Some people are actually helpful.

48 hours should be enough time for post-game chat, no? I don't think people who play casually want to see games from 3 weeks ago.

As for kc-jake's long list of active games:

200 games x 10 mins/day (minimum!) = 2000 minutes = 33 hours!!

Just stop playing your games, and get a job. With the money you can buy your gf a really fast laptop. Then you can quit your job and get back to your 200 games. Problem solved.

He wasn't talking about the recently completed games....but the total game list played by a user. That (and the game finder/join a game page) display 200 at once.

Sully is correct on this one. I feel that both should only show 25 or 50 at a time. And I have a 40/wk full-time job and a 10-20/wk part-time job. I'm actually cutting down my list of active games from the usual 10-15 to nothing, since I'm gonna be out of town for a week starting next Tuesday. (Vegas, baby)

Ahh I see. The game listings on the game finder and join page should be reduced to a lower number per page. I think 25 too small. maybe we should lower it to 100 first and then talk about 50?

Hey, it's your server. You will reduce server load by having that number lower, I guarantee it. And I seriously think you should do 50, it's a very solid number. f*ck 100 and its perfection.

If I were not premium, I'd always want to see at least my last four games to keep an eye on my trends without needing to use the game finder. But its your site, code how you want...

Whats happened to this idea being implimented? - The longest game on CC (25633) finshed the other day - and it wan't in my recent games box when it finished.

Here's what I did - "recent games" now lists any finished game that hasn't been archived yet. Currently we archive games after 5 days. Archived games are stored in a special long-term section of the database and you can no longer write to the game chat at that point. We can discuss shortening the time to archive.

Also, to save kc-jake's girlfriend's laptop I paginated the game finder and join screens to 100 games per page. This will also help us in the event that someone tries to spam the join page with, say, 1300 games! The join page lists oldest games first, the game finder lists newest games first.
