Vacation Game Freeze Option *Rejected*

Postby Brimstone on Wed Nov 22, 2006 3:44 pm

With the Holiday Season now upon us, is it possible to allow each user a vacation game freeze option?

- Only one game freeze option allowed per player per calendar year
- Freezes game for 7 days

With multiple players on each game, it is likely that most games a player is participating in will be frozen by another player.

I usually have 20 or so games going.......how would this help? In the past I have simply let all my games end and not joined new ones when I make plans for being out of town.......this works well and is simple.

Not everyone plans vacations weeks in advance, assessing opportunities at the moment as we do in our matches, and most likely some other matches you are in will be frozen by others. :D

Typically you can get 3 - 6 days respite on a game without getting kicked out - it is the most effective method Lack has come with and works correctly.

If one must go out of town then it is more important than a game, eh? In 700+ games I have only seen one or two folks kicked out for missing 3 turns due to leaving unexpectedly.....

So say you tried to wind down your games but you still have a few left. Generally they would be games that had gone on for quite a while with several people investing much time. You could miss turns and possibly deadbeat out apologizing as you go but sometimes that can upset the balance and throw the game one way or another.

What if you had a place in your profile to say that you were going on vacation or leaving until a certain date and you could put a brief statement there. This would freeze all of your remaining active games and show this message and display an unfreeze button. Anyone currently active in the game could hit the unfreeze button and it would continue as it does now. If you happen to be in a game with people that don't mind waiting then the game would just wait until the date in your profile and then resume.

I know these are just games and life is more important but why not try to work out something that helps.

If you check out the Suggestions box, you will notice a 'Vacation Setting' pending, while a 'Freeze Game Option' is rejected.

how would you feel if all 4 of your games were "frozen" because it was almost christmas and someone had to leave in each game?

NO, there should be no days cancelled my friends, if you do not want to play over the holidays, simply DO NOT join any more games now, join them after the holidays, but DO NOT penalize the players who want to play through, all here have enough time between now and mid-december, so just simply to not join any more games now to be safe, if you do, then you risk missing a turn, but to avoid this, just take a few week break, and start new games in January. respects, Blitzer, holiday cheer to all. :D
