Mafia n00bs

This is a clan for those players interested in mafia, but have only played a few games or still inexperianced, its main purpose will be to discuss mafia and ask questions and so on. There will be a few experiannced players there to answer questions and give advice. There will be mafia games played in the private forum.

This is not a competitive clan.

This is a good idea, but surely you'd have to boot players out every now and then, as they advance from noob status.

People rarely advance from noob status :) Just from being a newbie to experienced.

And when do you consider someone is no longer a noob?

And, when they are no longer considered so, do you kick them out?

I don't think the mods would even allow this, but if they did, I say go for it.

There is already one mafia clan, though, so I have my doubts.

And running games in a clan only forum is pretty messed up, especially when it is full of 'n00bs' as you put it.

One thing the Mafia Mods don't do is run clan-only games.

I have yet to decide this as explained in an above post.

Anarkistsdream wrote:And, when they are no longer considered so, do you kick them out?

I dont think it would be a good idea to kick them out, because they may be able to help other n00bs

Anarkistsdream wrote:I don't think the mods would even allow this, but if they did, I say go for it.

Why wouldnt the mods alllow this?, and thanks :)

The "n00bs can only get better with experiance, and just discussing the game will only help there understanding, playing the game is where they gain experiance, so that is why i plan to play some games in the forum.

Thanks for the comments, they are much appreciated :D

As we discussed Militant, I'll gladly be in to answer any questions that I can and I would encourage at least one or two other experienced players (nag, ga7, Koesen; I'm looking at you lol) to do the same.

Everyone's always bitching about noob (damn I hate that word) players and such, do something proactive about it and give a few minutes to answer some questions.

Also, we're pretty much all in agreement that CC mafia has been lacking a certain something lately, this is a good chance to try to correct that.

I'm willing to help out. Due to real life circumstances I have been less active lately than before, but whenever possible, I'll chip in.

If people are interested, I may run a newbie game. I have an advanced game nearly completely set up too, but before I commit to that (and ask others to commit to it) I have to be sure I'll have the time to run it properly and all the way to the end. But a newbie game should take less time.

I would probably make it a little more complicated than Sierra's recent game, with more power roles and fewer clues at the beginning. If people (new players, players who only recently began and perhaps one or two experienced players to show how it's done) are interested, let me know, and I'll put it together. I'm thinking about a dozen players, give or take.

Ok, I quickly put together a 14 player non vanilla game. Non vanilla means everyone has some kind of power, nobody is limited to merely voting.

There are a few games running at the moment, so maybe the timing is off, but those who are interested (mainly new players but a veteran or two can't hurt) let me know and we'll see when we can run it. Personally, I'd prefer to set it up as soon as possible.

Give it a little time. It got 8 players in about an hour. That's not too bad. If tomorrow comes and it's not full yet, I can always take out a few roles and run it that way. I prefer the full 14, though.

No, your game is filling really quickly, what i meant was the clan, i dont see it getting 9 members, i suppose i could ask the players signing up for the n00b games...

As a "n00b" myself, I don't see the point of having a closed forum. Wouldn't it make more sense to have an open question and answer thread and encourage seasoned players to set up more games for new or inexperienced players, as koesen and a few others are currently doing?

I can agree with the above, but I'll throw my name in to be signed up. As far as leaving the clan, when a player feels confident enough to leave, they can leave. If they want to stay and help other new mafia players, they can do that too. Seems easy enough to me. No obligation.

Yes, that is obviously helpful, but i set this up becasue i dare say experianced players get fed up off n00bs saying what is this and what is that, so i set it up in the hope of reducing that, but both can still work in conjunction.

Neoteny you are in.

Don't now why people on here don't like being cooks, remember under siege: A former SEAL, now cook, is the only person who can stop a gang of terrorists when they sieze control of a US Navy battleship.
