3-D anyone

Postby evster on Mon Aug 14, 2006 9:54 pm

Hi,

I definitely spend too much time on this site.

My wife will certainly agree.

As I was falling asleep last night, I got to thinking about the connections between territories.

Anyhow it got me to thinking about a game I had (I think it is still at my parents place) when I was a kid - 3-D TicTacToe.

Has anyone looked at 3-D would something like this be viable?

Like the map would be the blueprint to a building with different levels and there would be stairs and a elevator? Something to that effect or am I off base?

I was thinking a building - stairs/elevator/escalator.

blueprint is a great idea.

What about a mall the continents could be the type of merchant - not necessarily georgraphically connected - or is that too way out there?

At least we don't eat raw polar bears.

Someone suggested this waaay back. 3-d tic tac toe is great - 4 x 4 x 4 - and I would love to play this map if someone makes it, but the trouble with these maps is making it clear to players which territories connect to which.

Please explain 4 x 4 x 4.

Also,

can you point me to the thread on the prior discussion?

http://home.earthlink.net/~cmalumphy/3d.html

4 x 4 x 4 = four rows, four columns, four levels. Three dimensions. Normal tic tac toe is 3 x 3, but 3 x 3 x 3 tic tac toe wouldn't work because if you take the centre cube off the start you will always win. So you have to make it 4. Of course, this doesn't hold true for a risk board, as you wouldn't play it like regular tic tac toe, so 3 x 3 x 3 could work. (But I like 4 better.)

Was bored at work so started reading through the Forum, and this thread caught my eye.

And then some said "What about a mall the continents could be the type of merchant - not necessarily georgraphically connected -", and that sent my brain off.

I lived in Edmonton, Alberta for a while, and it has a huge mall (claimed to the largest in the world/western hemisphere or something like that) where there are numerous merchants all of the same type - with some even having having more than 1 store.

It might make a great place to start from, although it is only 2 levels in the main.

Webaddress for the map is http://www.westedmall.com/mallmap/mallmap.asp
