People only have value as loyal employees who work from dawn to dusk, never complain and never ask for a raise. By the conservative yardstick, Big Pharma is doing a magnificent job and raking in ENORMOUS profits. So why would you oppose it?
Not at all. Here is the Wikipedia article:
Conservatism is a cultural, social, and political philosophy that seeks to promote and to preserve traditional institutions, practices, and values.[1][2] The central tenets of conservatism may vary in relation to the culture and civilization in which it appears. In Western culture, depending on the particular nation, conservatives seek to promote a range of social institutions such as the nuclear family, organized religion, the military, property rights, and monarchy. Conservatives tend to favor institutions and practices that guarantee stability and evolved gradually.[2] Adherents of conservatism often oppose certain aspects of modernity (for example mass culture and secularism) and seek a return to traditional values, though different groups of conservatives may choose different traditional values to preserve.
Basically, most branches of conservatism want to value the same things that were valued in the imperial age. Some want a return to ancient Greek or Roman ideals. The Republican party is not now, nor has it ever truly been conservative (maybe during the Reagan era). As pointed out by many libertarians, George W. brought the biggest spending spree in history to the American people.
Big Pharma and Big Tech are Democrat-aligned. You could point to slightly higher donations to Republican Congressmen than Democrats, but that is due to a higher amount needed to sway their position and more Republicans serving on committees that regulate Big Pharma.
Conservatives are ok with tylenol, because it's been around longer than we (current living Conservatives) have. We're not okay with new treatments.
You can put the William Shakespeare test to what Conservatives value:
monotheism
monogamy
monarchy
monologues
(and the
seacoast of Bohemia)
