Actually, i`m already in a sports clan called The Gladiators of Sport.

there was about 15 or so, had our own forum(i can still go on it, it`s part of cc but hidden). i don`t think anyone has been on it for like 6 or 7 months. :( we had a thread for most sports(some American ones as it was mainly Americans), Firth4eva i had a rugby thread, both codes.
It's safe to say that it's inactive then right? Well the Jesus Freaks were inactive under another name and Caleb got Lack to rename it, make him mod, and make it active again. I was thinking we could do that too.

Famagusta 1-1 Tottenham (agg 2-7)

Robbie Keane provided a second-half equaliser to spare Tottenham's blushes in the second leg of their first-round tie with Anorthosis Famagusta.

Martin Jol handed Jermain Defoe and Darren Bent starts but a handful of chances went begging before Fabinho fired the hosts ahead on 54 minutes.

Jol brought on Gareth Bale and Keane in the second half, clearly keen not to leave Cyprus nursing a defeat.

And Keane made no mistake from Bale's cross to seal the draw on 78 minutes.

The visitors had the luxury of a 6-1 lead from the home leg but Keane's strike prevented an embarrassing defeat for the under-pressure Jol and his side.

Spurs created a wealth of chances in the first half but struggled to convert, with Defoe in particular guilty of squandering a bagful of opportunities.

Debutant Kevin-Prince Boateng quickly made his presence felt within five minutes, whipping in a neat cross that was put behind for a corner as Spurs started brightly.

But Darren Bent provided the visiting side's first clear chance, driving down the left channel and squaring neatly for Defoe, who blasted over the bar.

Defoe had another chance to open the scoring after jinking into space on the edge of the area after 20 minutes.

But again the striker, who netted twice in the home leg, couldn't force a save from Famagusta keeper Zoltan Nagy.

Spurs' dominance began to show towards the end of the first half, but the visitors still failed to find the critical finish.

Defoe had two more golden chances to open the scoring in the first half.

First, he chested down Steed Malbranque's crafty chipped pass and turned neatly - but then fired his shot straight into the outstretched arms of the advancing Nagy.

Then Defoe failed to justify more good work from Malbranque on the stroke of half-time, with a shot that curled just wide of the post.

Spurs were left to rue their wasted chances when Fabinho fired the home side into the lead after the restart.

Nikos Frousos appeared to control William Cleite Boaventura's cross with his hand before teeing up Fabinho for a driving shot past the flailing Robinson.

The home side took heart from snatching the opener and it wasn't until Jol brought on Keane and Bale that Spurs were able to get back on terms.

Bale supplied a neat cross into the path of the Republic of Ireland striker, who finally found the Famagusta goal with a well-placed shot into the top corner of the net.

and so the scots dont feel left out

Dnipro 1-1 Aberdeen (agg 1-1)
Aberdeen go through on away goals

Aberdeen capped a memorable week for Scottish clubs in Europe by defeating Dnipro in the Uefa Cup on away goals.

The Dons progressed to the group stages courtesy of Darren Mackie's superb header after 27 minutes.

Richard Foster sped away from his marker and his cross was headed home by Mackie from inside the six-yard box.

Andriy Vorobey scored a lucky equaliser when he deflected Andrew Considine's clearance into the net, but Aberdeen held on at the Meteor Stadium.

Aberdeen boss Jimmy Calderwood handed Mackie his first start since August for the crucial UEFA Cup first-round second leg in Ukraine.

Mackie, who recovered from a niggling hamstring problem, replaced Lee Miller up front as the Dons looked to his pace to get them an away goal following the goalless first leg at Pittodrie.

Left-back Foster also came in, with Jeffrey de Visscher dropping to the bench.

Aberdeen goalkeeper Jamie Langfield prevented the Dons from conceding within the opening five minutes when he saved superbly

Jamie Smith was sent clear on the left-hand side after a brilliant pass from captain Scott Severin, but his tame effort was deflected clear for a corner and the Dons failed to capitalise.

Aberdeen settled into the game well in the opening 20 minutes and appeared content to concede midfield possession and try to hit Dnipro on the break by utilising Mackie's pace.

The tactic worked to perfection after 27 minutes when the SPL side stunned the hosts by scoring a priceless away goal.

Foster sent in a juicy cross from the left wing after evading his marker and Mackie was on hand to head powerfully past Dnipro goalkeeper Vyacheslav Kernozenko for his 50th goal for the club.

Aberdeen continued to frustrate their hosts with some dogged defending, when L'opa did burst into the area Michael Hart produced a perfectly-timed sliding challenge that triggered unsuccesful penalty claims.

Hart then repelled Vitaliy Denisov's low cross and Nazarenko's long-range effort following the resulting corner was blocked.

Lyopa and Vorobey were trying to give Dnipro width, but Aberdeen remained resolute and retained their lead at half-time.

Smith was withdrawn at half-time with a troublesome calf injury and was replaced by Lee Miller.

Aberdeen were camped in their own half from the start of the second period, but were looking comfortable - despite Dnipro pressing for an equaliser.

Langfield was confident dealing with numerous cross-balls and some of the Dnipro players were too quick to tumble under Aberdeen challenges in an attempt to get free-kicks.

Dnipro almost equalised after 62 minutes when Rusol's header from a corner cannoned back off the crossbar.

Zander Diamond went close with a header with 20 minutes remaining as the Dons looked to score a second to seal victory.

Dnipro drew level in bizarre circumstances after 75 minutes when Considine's attempted clearance was deflected in by Vorobey to set up a tense finish.

Langfield was inspirational as he tipped a late shot onto the crossbar and the Dons held on to progress to the group stages of the Uefa Cup.

too keep up with the match reports

FC Metalist 2-3 Everton (agg 3-4)

Everton rode their luck to earn victory against Metalist Kharkiv and book their place in the Uefa Cup group stage.

Metalist dominated proceedings and took a deserved lead when Edmar played a one-two with Marko Devic and shot home.

Everton levelled when Joleon Lescott deflected in Steven Pienaar's drive, before Hicham Mahdoufi fired in after Olexandr Rykun's shot hit the post.

James McFadden rifled into the corner from 18 yards and Victor Anichebe's solo effort settled it late on.

The result was desperately harsh on the Ukraine side, who had controlled so much of the game to come out of it with no reward.

The home fans provided an electric atmosphere from the kick off, with every Metalist attack greeted by a deafening crescendo of cheers.

Everton were struggling to get a foothold in the game and they nearly went behind early on when Edmar found himself unmarked on the edge of the box and forced a good save low down by Tim Howard.

Everton's first real attack came when McFadden surged into the box and fell between two challenges, but seconds after his penalty appeal was turned down, David Moyes' men were behind.

Edmar cleverly exchanged passes with Devic and the Brazilian made no mistake with his second chance of the tie, coolly slotting left-footed past Howard.

Everton's James McFadden is brought down against Metalist Kharkiv

The Toffees needed a reply and they so nearly got one when Pienaar whipped over a superb cross from the left, Leon Osman planting his header straight into Oleksandr Goryainov's arms from point-blank range.

The teams then traded 25-yard shots, McFadden slamming just over before Metalist's Valentyn Sliusar rifled wide at the other end.

Whatever Moyes said during the interval paid immediate dividends as his side wasted no time in getting back on level terms.

Goryainov punched away from Yakubu but Everton pumped the ball back into the box and when Pienaar's shot was deflected into Lescott's path, the defender turned in his fifth goal of the season.

If Metalist were unlucky not to still be ahead, they did not mess around feeling sorry for themselves.

They tore up the other end, Rykun's 20-yard shot cannoned off the inside of the post and Mahdoufi was on hand to belt the rebound home.

Everton were once again staring down the barrel and Moyes crucially threw Anichebe on as they pressed for another equaliser.

McFadden was sent through by Lescott only for Goryainov to save well at his feet, before the lively Pienaar wasted two good openings.

With 18 minutes left, McFadden finally broke the Ukraine's hearts, collecting Anichebe's pass and firing past Goryainov from 18 yards.

It was the 19-year-old Anichebe who wrapped it up with two minutes left, taking advantage of a poor defensive header, keeping his composure and hammering into the net.

Suddenly, it was the silence from the 30,000 crowd that was deafening.

Blackburn 2-1 Larissa (agg 2-3)

Blackburn 2-1 Larissa (agg 2-3)

Blackburn came from behind to beat Larissa but were knocked out of the Uefa Cup 3-2 on aggregate and miss out on the group stage of the competition.

Larissa scored a crucial goal when Cleyton converted from 12 yards after creating space with a neat sidestep.

Rovers equalised with a Matt Derbyshire penalty after keeper Elias Kotsolis brought down David Dunn.

Stephen Warnock then finished superbly for Rovers early in the second half but Larissa held out to win the tie.

It was a valiant effort by Rovers after the break, with David Bentley particularly threatening.

But they ultimately paid for a poor performance in Greece, where they lost 2-0, and a disappointing first-half showing at Ewood Park.

The visiting supporters had made the bulk of the noise in the opening stages - and the volume increased further when their team took the lead.

Cleyton was left in far too much space after collecting Panagiotis Katsiaros' cross from the left and had time to place his shot in the bottom corner.

The Larissa striker underlined his goal threat again later in the half, eluding Dunn but drilling his strike wide of Brad Friedel's goal.

Rovers, unchanged from the team that beat Sunderland in the Premier League, started the tie poorly and were caught offside on several occasions.

But the home team did eventually threaten after 27 minutes when Chris Samba got the better of former Leicester and Newcastle defender Nikos Dabizas only to direct his header over the crossbar.

Dunn should have done better after being played in by Tugay but his first touch was heavy and he could not get the required power on his effort, while Derbyshire later pulled a shot wide.

And Larissa, playing with great composure and confidence, threatened again through Nektarios Alexandrou, whose shot on the half volley was deflected wide.

But when it seemed as though Blackburn would go into the break with their European hopes all but extinguished, they pulled a goal back.

Kotsolis was perhaps harshly adjudged to have brought down Dunn and Derbyshire slotted home the spot kick at the second attempt.

The Larissa keeper saved the first effort but only after illegally advancing off his line.

And six minutes after the start Warnock's excellent finish put Rovers ahead on the night after he latched on to a ball forward by Bentley.

Rovers poured forward, with Derbyshire just failing to convert a cross from Warnock and the Greek team struggling to contain Bentley.

Blackburn brought on Morten Gamst Pedersen and Benni McCarthy and the home team created several half chances.

Samba looped a header over the keeper but also over the crossbar.

And as the match wore on Larissa gradually regained a measure of control after coach George Donis brought on an extra defender and played out the final minutes for a famous aggregate victory.

To round off the match reports

Bolton 1-0 Rabotnicki (agg 2-1)

Bolton edged into the group stages of the Uefa Cup with a drab victory over a limited Rabotnicki side.

Sammy Lee's under-strength starting line-up produced few clear-cut chances until Nicolas Anelka's introduction midway through the second half.

And the striker's first touch was to head fellow substitute Stelios Giannakopoulos' pin-point cross over the helpless keeper Tome Pacovski.

Rabotnicki pressed in the closing stages but Bolton held firm.

The win extends Bolton's unbeaten run of matches to five, and while it may not be spectacular form, it represents a solidarity that may silence the boo-boys plaguing Sammy Lee's reign.

But Bolton welcome Chelsea next followed by a trip to league leaders Arsenal, where they will need to perform far better than this performance.

Lee gambled by making seven changes to his side with strike duo Anelka and El-Hadji Diouf relegated to the substitutes' bench.

Rabotnicki began brightly with some neat early touches but were ultimately toothless in attack and ponderous in midfield.

Neither goalkeeper was seriously troubled in the opening 45 minutes although Danny Guthrie stung the hands of visiting stopper Pacovski with a curling a free-kick from 30 yards.

Guthrie also saw a low drive through a crowd of players comfortably saved by Pacovski, while the on-loan Liverpool midfielder turned provider for Kevin Davies who had his close-range header cleared off the line.

The hosts were allowed to dominate throughout but Wanderers lacked the creative spark of the benched Anelka and Diouf with Davies too often isolated up front.

But Lee's side still boasted enough quality in their ranks to punish a limited opposition.

Stelios was introduced at the break to inject some much-needed spark. And 10 minutes after his arrival, he rounded Pacovski and cut his shot back from a tight angle, only to see his effort blocked on the line by a defender.

Davies wasted a fine chance to nod home from close range when he glanced wide with the goal at his mercy.

With Davies wasteful and Bolton cautious, Lee threw on his top scorer Anelka in search of a decisive goal.

And Anelka duly responded with his first touch, looping a header over a clueless Pacovski from Stelios' cross from the left flank.

Rabotnicki's only chance of note fell to substitute Ivan Pejcic who slashed wide from just inside the box after a fine run. But the tiny band of Macedonian fans were rarely treated.

Diouf was later introduced which further settled the hosts and barring a late rally from the visitors late on, Bolton closed out the game to progress.
