After the ridiculous sanction of 600E to Atletico de Madrid for the lighter thrown at Cristiano Ronaldo, today in Madrigal stadium someone threw a can of tear gas to the field. Players had to abandon the field.

So I guess Villareal should be fined 800E.

Where does the cimbon nickname comes from? What does it mean?

It is actually SERVETTE FC's thing "CIMBOM" saying. Yes, switzerland football club SERVETTE has it. In early 1900s, one very fanatic galatasaray fan moves from itanbul into switzerland for law education, he is also football player and plays for servette as well. He gets very impressed of this FAN SCREAMING "CIM BOM SERVETTE" or someting like that.... Comes back to istanbul some years later...He is a strong galatasaray fan and has a strong say over the club, such a man he is, starts and suggests this saying go well with galatasaray, that day now, CIMBOM becomes a slogan for galatasaray as well...

This is how i know the story... :)

Long form of this slogan is;

"RE RE RE RA RA RA GALATASARAY GALATASARAY CIM BOM BOM.... "
Btw, as a french man, maybe you have heard it before, galatasaray name is the name of a french high school in turkey/isytanbul and club has ties with this high school/colledge.

Only problem with this is that it s not what fans sign for, and none of these young players consider staying once they get poked by a bigger club. This club lacks so much of ambition on the pitch..

I think Arsenal were among the giants and massive clubs 10 years ago. Players' wages and prices were relatively reasonable until Roman Abramovich spoiled the Gunners fun when he decided to insanely invest his oil money in the game. However, Wenger is to be blamed for his lack of adaptability to the new situation of football world. If you were a superstar, why should you waste and sacrifice your talent to help the board generate big money? IMO, you'd rather find an ambitious club where you can make personal glory during your too short career.

You can thank me for bringing Pirlo back, I flooded him in FB with football chatter so I guess he decided to come back to the thread.

If he dares to disappear again, count on me to flood him again.

Welcome back pirlo but... What are you talking about? These general club politics are decided by the board, not the general manager. Wenger has only been doing what he was told to do each time he sold a big name and each time that they had to stop bidding on a player.

In terms of economical model, porto really kicks ass. No club is even close to their transfer profit balance year after year, and they are still competitive even on a european level. It s so impressive that it s fishy! Lol

galatasaray is;
name of a region in istanbul
name of a high school
name of a university
name of football team

and

i dont know if it is a joke or not, what i know is the history/story of the slogan comes from there...
this is said, galatasaray has many of such slogans, that is one of many more :)

Why is that? Your club got scammed by these guys too?

The lucho gonzalez case was pretty embarassing here in marseille..

Anyways, this sucks, we were winning 0-1 until brandao, our ex player tied on the 91st tonight.. Just missed a great oportunity to be 3 points away from the champions league.

Yeah you can thank Nitto lol and thank you Bet... Ofc I can't be sure if it was the board wish or not, but Wenger didn't mean to be a supermarket and sell his stars. As we saw, Cesc and Samir Nasri were crybabies who refused to stay, and then they were followed by RVP a year later. I believe Wenger tried hard to hold on his stars who were too desperate to win titles. To be honest, I was extremely surprised when they paid big money for Ozil. I couldn't believe until it was officially declared by Arsenal website.

Well that s the thing... They couldn t really blame wenger because his team was getting stripped year after year, that they made a lot of money with all these young guys starting their career playing for arsenal and that they had the champions league income year after year.
Let s not forget that they also had the built of a new stadium during that era.. Anyways, I really thought that wenger would leave last summer. They just decided to keep him and to become spenders. And things are going pretty well for them this year. I think they will continue doing that next summer, and spend their stash..
But i m pretty sure wenger gets commisions for every positive transfers for arsenal. Therefore the system is flawed...

Wow, what a walk in the park for PSG! I see Spahic is still such a butcher. Red card for spahic?? What a surprise!! He used to hold red/yellow card records when he was playing for Montpellier!

I thought that not having Cavani would be a big prejudice for the PSG tonight.. Hopefully he started training again this week after a month of absence for injury. But now this is done, absolutely impossible to overcome a 0-4. Now I really want to know who s next! :)

Just watched the city barça highlights. Looks like the penalty+red card on demichelis was horse shit right? City is out. No way Barcelona doesn t score a goal home..

At 0-1 City still had a chance, not now. They will put up a fight and could win the game but I'd be surprised if they can score 3 in Spain. They'll have Aguero back though so who knows.

As for PSG ask any Utd fan if they are surprised by that result. Worse team in the last 16.

leverkussen was really not at their best since 2014 started, and vs united I think those were accidents. I really thought this would end up 1-1 or so.. Surprising that the second of bundesliga is so far from being champions league material... when the last 3/4 champions league were won by 2 german teams.
As per worse team in the last 16... not sure schalke and dortmund are that much better, they are behind the bayer in bundesliga, that's a good reference. Or Milan that is proper shit this year, olympiakos or zenith... not sure about galatasaray being so much better than the bayer either.

regarding city; they can score 3 all they want in Barcelona. No way barcelona doesn't score at least 1 in that case. Barcelona and PSG are in quarter finals, the odds of this not happening is probably about the same than United winning the EPL this year.

Bundesliga has become boring this season as there is only one respectable side.. a bit like the Scottish league.

From what I have read Lahm & Co. are ready for a big test against Arsenal though, I wonder if there will be any rustiness to shake off as they are not used to being pressed.

This should be just a formality for the title contender. Chelsea will be the only english left in quarter finals.

Milan is so inferior to the atletico this season.. History won t matter.

Fun fact: after a year and a half playing for paris... Zlatan has already scored here more goals than in any other club he s played for.

Surely when Messi went through, Demichelis had 2 choices.

1. Bring him down outside the box, get sent off and hope Barca don't score from the free kick and the 10 men could hold on
2. Sprint along next to Messi as best he could, putting pressure on. If Messi scores, at least it's still 11v11

Either way, Barca were better, and deserved a win.

Looking forward to the game at the Emirates tonight, but we will really have to put in shift against Munich.

Woops forgot about them you re right. I guess I was thinking of the only team with chances to win in quarter finals. You never know with united and a bit early to say at this point without knowing the quarter finalists and the seedings, but I highly doubt united can be semi finalist this year. Chelsea can.

Barça, real, atleti, psg, chelsea, bayern should be the 6 fighting for those 4 spots, depending on the seedings.
