Please get your head out of the sand. No-one is debating the merits of the existence of Israel. It is not the Palestinian people who are unwilling to engage in dialogue but Israel.

My age has got nothing to do with this. I don't claim to be an expert on the subject but I know a fair bit about this conflict as well as the one at my home in the North of Ireland.

Israel claims they have the right to defend themselves, fair enough, they have the Iron Dome shield to protect them. Hamas have launched many thousands of ineffective rockets which have resulted in 3 deaths.

Israel have removed the rights of the Palestinian people. They have blockaded 1.8 million people in a strip of land 51km long for the last 7 years. The two crossing north and south are blocked by the Egyptians and Israel. They are not allowed to build a seaport or an airport. Youth employment is enormous, civil workers are getting paid late if at all, a significant percentage of people rely on aid to live. Now this tiny strip of land is getting bombarded, schools, UN hospitals and now the only power station in Gaza, which provided a few hours of electricity a day has been destroyed.

Maybe Israel will destroy the rockets and remove the tunnels by the end of this. But the legacy of this conflict will be a new generation of Palestinians growing up full of hate for Israel, for denying them their basic rights and slaughtering their children.
