So, the UK has 1/5 the population of the U.S. But it has had three members of parliament assassinated on its territory since 1990 while the U.S. has had zero. Adjusted for population that's 15:0. Parliament and Congress are roughly the same size and members of neither, except senior leadership, are routinely protected.
The last sitting member of Congress killed on U.S. territory was more than 50 years ago, in 1968, when Sirhan Sirhan shot Bobby Kennedy. And before that, Huey Long in 1935.
