So far the expressions of interest were:
DEMOCRATS: 12
REPUBLICANS: 9

MORE CAN COME FORWARD AT THIS STAGE!
The structure of the competiton will be as follows for REPS AND DEMS:
STAGE 1: Who gets to be who? Depending on the number of entrants, I will run an appropriate number of games to whittle down to six candidates for each party (2 front runner and 4 also-rans). This stage will run in late October and November. IF you are unsuccessful as a front runner you MAY be allowed to take up any open spots for also-ran positions.
STAGE 2: The Primaries: A series of five games over different maps will whittle the candidates down to one on each side with an eliminator if there's a tie in number of games won. The games will be timed to take place in the primary season.
STAGE 3: The Election: one candidate for each side (and possibly an independent, see below) will contest six games: one each to match the presidential debates worth a point each and a five-pointer speed game showdown on election night which is likely to decide the tournament (and the presidency!)
I will list SIX names for each party who are declared runners or have an exploratory committee and are thought likely to run.
The candidates will be FRONT RUNNERS (2) or ALSO RANS (4)
In order to reflect reality, the FRONT RUNNERS will carry an advantage into the primary stage: they will be deemed to have a win already under their belt. It will therefore be worth competing to be a front runner in stage 1. HOWEVER, if in reality an also-ran candidate is still in the real race after Super Tuesday, the front-runner's advantage will be REVERSED. So if you have real faith that, for example, Gore will declare or Ron Paul will make it all the way, your faith COULD be rewarded!
INDEPENDENTS:
There are few independents. So a series of games will determine ONE representative of the non-mainstaream-party camp. But to put appropriate hurdles in the way of the independent candidate, s/he will have to earn the right to run: s/he will have to WIN a further two games - one against five democrats eliminated from stage 1, and one against five eliminated republicans. Only if s/he wins both of these games will there be a third candidate in Stage 3 (unless, reflecting the reality of Mr. Bloomberg's financial muscle, I receive a very substantial bribe!)
THE CONGRESS
Unsuccessful candidates will be invited to contest the senate and house in triples games to be played on election day.
SO LETS SEE WHETHER DEMOCRATS, REPUBLICANS OR INDEPENDANTS ARE THE BEST STRATEGISTS!
DEMOCRATS:
DO you want to be:
CLINTON (front runner)
OBAMA (front runner)
or:, also rans:
EDWARDS
KERRY
BIDEN
GORE
REPUBLICANS:
GIULIANI (front runner)
THOMPSON (DALTON) (front runner)
Also rans:
ROMNEY
McCAIN
PAUL
HUCKABEE
Please now re-declare yourself as one of the above candidates or Independent [/b]
