thegeneralpublic...the roads move the goods and services and spectators between the venues and their source. please refer to V2 for an update on this issue...i'm afraid I had incorrect terminology in the destructions. 8)

In the...destructions? o-O Sounds more violent than it needs to be. :P
Anyway, I think I get it now. One thing to fix, the bridges would be much cooler if they didn't stop one one side of the road; open ends or a border in the middle would look much better.

Yes, i'm going to try to make proper city style pedestrain bridges for those.

Not sure if this has been brought up about spectators. How exactly do they work? Is it 3 if you hold 3 or more and the park, or is it 3 for every 3 you hold and the park.

I guess what I'm asking is does it work like this:

3 - 9 +3

or

3 +3
6 +6
9 +9

or (broken)

3 + 3
4 + 12
...

Do you know how to make it not broken with the new xml?

ok im really liking this map and cant wait to play it.

Oh and gimil is mad at me because i told him that he was a fat dwarf

I stand by that.

Back on topic:

the only thing that i would change is the colours on the continents on the top left and middleright which I think are parramatta and canterbury as they are quite similar.

Great map tough 4/5

a few extra thoughts.

1. some terits have unclear delimitations. for example Glebe and City
2. can you make the black terit border pass through the middle of the roads?
3. yachting icon looks blurry compared to the other icons.
4. some borders are thicker. see maroubra <-> le perouse
5. any 4 goods/services+1venue = +3. i think the 4 is too much. in most case in order to get the 5 terits for this bonus you need to hold 3-4 continents. if you hold 3-4 continents then you don't quite care about the measly 3 bonus. also the olympic park bonus is kinda strange. only 2 continents have direct acces to it so it's kinda hard for others to reach it.

i'd say to make the bonuses like this.

2 goods/services + 1 venue = +2
2 spectators + 1 venue/olypmic park = +2

also i'd like to know how you intend to code the bonuses. can a spectator be a part of 2 bonuses? for example i own spectator A,B and C plus the olympic park. this gives me +3. but if i also get spectator D will i get another +6? (for forming 2 more groups B C D + A C D)

Actually if it were up to me all I'd increase the goods/services + venue values and decrease that to 3 goods/services and a venue.

I'd probably crush all the continent bonuses as well if it were up to me as well because I find the venue and park bonuses more interesting. Maybe decreasing them all by 1 or even 2.

However it isn't up to me, lol. Like age of merchants I expect the goods and services + venue bonuses to add up very quickly if it is possible to get it several times over with multiple groups of 4 and one venue or multiple venues with a single group of 4.

Coleman....thanks for all the input. On AoM we had a great game, but i found the bonuses were small which drew the game out, not that small bonuses are wrong for that map.
But for this map, I'd like large bonuses so that games don't take so long to play. :)

Hm, while the execution of graphics and such is looking nice, the idea itself does little for me. But it looks interesting...

And....I am surprised that this map has been let out of the "infant" section so early in the piece.
It is only up to V3, and has a poll running which only shows 1 vote in favour of it being of interest to voters.
Someone must be playing around!

Was looking at your Pearl harbour map and saw to mu surprise you have a new map going. You pushing for the record!?!?

Anways, are the roads there for reason of gameplay. If they arent they are just going to confuse people over were the borders are and are unnecassary. What are the bridges for???

Think this map has great potential to ad something new to gameplay using the roads but just cant put my finger on it!!!

No Hulmey, I'm not into records, but you must admit there are a few different map around now.

Anways, are the roads there for reason of gameplay. If they arent they are just going to confuse people over were the borders are and are unnecassary.
Then roads are for gmaeplay, they allow the connections between the venues, services and spectators directly.

What are the bridges for???
So that pleb armies can cross the roads and gain acces to their own or neighbouring terts.

Think this map has great potential to ad something new to gameplay using the roads but just cant put my finger on it!!!
Please let me know if you come up with something...I'd be most interested to hear. :)

The bridges are hideous, they look like horse shoes. Unless this is how Australian bridges look, then meh. It wouldn't surprise me...

Coleman, you can criticise my artwork, but there is no need to be nasty or bitchy about it, I don't do it to you. Thanks for your comments anyway. :)

I agree with this, it's hard to tell the difference in the bonus list between E Suburbs and Parramatta, the greens are too similar

Anyway, it's a good start and I like it :)

Hulmey...sorry to hear you can't get gold of this...
Its quite simple.

The roads enable the suburbs with icons i.e. spectators, goods and services, to attack each directly in any direction and they don't have to border each other.

To move between the suburbs terrs, you have normal risk border attack movement, some of these attacks have to use the bridges because of the layout of sydney and these main roads.

Hope this helps a little...and I am right now re-working the map completly to compe up with a layout the will be similar, but hopefullt the legend will explain things better. :)

V4 Re-Design

Postby cairnswk on Fri Jul 20, 2007 8:28 pm

V4 Re-Design

Please Note: Bonuses have note yet been worked, the unmbers indicated below are actual terts in that City.

What's changed:
* Terts now based around actual city areas within Sydney.
* Smaller terts.
* Deisgn for title and legend combines the outline of Sydney Tower and use of a 5 Dollar Coin ( mine) minted especially for these 2000 Games.
* Bridges out, Predestrian crossings in.
* Pedestrian crossings now allow movement between suburbs.

Concept has not changed. Raods allow you to attack directly into goods and services terts and spectator terts, but normal movement between suburbs must be done by crossing borders and pedestrian crossings.
